2 WEEKS ON STEEMIT (MY TIME ON STEEMIT)

The screenshots above are my achievements so far in 16 days to be exact. I have invested nothing but my time and data. Although I don't know exactly how to rate it.

I believe it's best not to compare myself to others, so many people came here through different means; some people were introduced through a friend with a higher rep, others through a community of steemians, some already have an existing fan base.

As for me, I came here alone, while searching for an alternate crypto-currency online I saw steemit. I decided to register and it has been a great learning experience ever since.
At a time, I had up to 30 tabs open on my PC trying to digest every information I can get. Steemit still has a long way to become user-friendly, it's very easy to be intimidated as a newbie but with time it gets easier. I am very grateful to those people who helped me understand through the articles I read. I thank all the communities that welcomed me with open arms. @airhawk-project #steemitbloggers @minnowsupport, there are so many others I can't begin to name, but I appreciate all of you.

What i have learned and still learning about steemit

Quality over Quantity: It's easy to be churning out half-assed posts and still get likes but I have learnt that for the long run it's better to have a well thought out blog post. It doesn't have to be soo long but if you put your mind to it you will attract readers and curators.

Removing entitlement mentality: It may sound harsh but It's true, as a beginner you are not entitled to upvotes. you may feel you've got the next big content but what happens when no one like your stuff. you just have to move on so you don't get discouraged, similar to a busker singing in the street, you may have all the talent but not everyone will stop and listen, but you keep singing and one day you will get there.

Be a quality curator: This is the easiest part yet quality curators are scarce on steemit, everyone is posting but few are taking time to give quality feedback on new content. This is one of the easiest ways to build relationships and even get paid on steemit.

P.S. Just a caution for the new users . when you want to change your SBD to STEEM to increase your steempower. DO NOT CLICK THE 'CONVERT TO STEEM' BUTTON use the https://steemit.com/market link instead to buy or sell steem. I made that mistake and lost some steem.

Thank you all for reading, I know there is still much more for me to learn. Steemit is growing and going to get much bigger than it is. In fact, I have a theory that people outside the western world are going to catch on to steemit much faster.

Thanks for sharing your story. All the block chain talk on here can be intimidating. It is nice to read of someone who came in like me, knowing no one, and still is going strong. I just posted my first blog so I am excited to see how it goes. Thanks for explaining about curators. I had not understood that before. Blessings.

you are welcome 🙂 If you have any other questions. feel free to let me know. I will check your blog and follow you

Thank you! I have followed as well and figured out how to upvote. I'm a bit of an old fogie on here but it is great to see so many wonderful posts and talented writers. Keep up the good work! Blessings

P.S. Just a caution. I know this might confuse you for now but when you want to change your SBD to STEEM to increase your steempower, DO NOT CLICK THE 'CONVERT TO STEEM' BUTTON use the https://www.steemit.com/market link instead to buy or sell steem. I made that mistake and lost some steem.
focus on the community for now and after a week or two. try to understand the steem currency.

Thanks for the tip! Blessings

I was like that too. Hehe

Hi there, yes I do agree with the "What I have learned..." part, good stuff comes for those who do little but always. ♥ keep it going :)

Thank you, it's a gradual process. hopefully, we will get there 😊

Great job. You are really moving fast

Thank you. I try

For 2 Week you have done great progress! nice.

Thank you 😊

Thanks this is a helpful post. I have been on for a week now (I am a travel/adventure photographer) and just learning the ropes. The dont convert to steem tip is the most important I think. I put it at 100% steem powered up for my first post which was a mistake in hindsight. Good to learn from those mistakes early however!

you are going to enjoy it here. keep up the quality content. I am glad to be of help

Thanks. Appreciate the vote of confidence !

You're doing great. Keep it up. All the best!

thank you for the encouragement

Welcome on board @abmakko. Seems like you have found your feet here pretty fast, well done!

thank you. for the motivation

nice... i liked that and agree. i too came to steemit with nobody. 3 months of leg work has payed off though... but there were for sure times when i felt discouraged. actually i did sign up with a friend...but we both had no rep...and he gave up and no longer posts...
i'd like to see a bit more support for new users. i go into the new feed and try to engage with folks i see with low rep and getting no attention...but im just one person... id love to see a welcome crew that engages in some of these questions we all have and ask in our first posts.... yet so often are not answered and people just kinda feel alone and ignored... a welcoming crew could help reduce the amount of dead accounts.
Keep plugging away @abmakko!!

Thanks for your support in the community. you are right a welcoming crew will encourage a lot of people

Great post and good encouragement for those of us just starting. Thanks! I'm on my 4th day and still don't really have a clue how it all works - especially the crypto bit. :-) For now I'm trying to post everyday, leave some comments and upvote. On Tuesday I'm hoping to have time to read through the basics again and adjust if necessary. Good luck with your journey. I look forward to reading what other things you discover.

I am glad to be of help. I believe its best to focus on navigating the community first. keep on steeming

Youre so right about quality vs. quantity.
Great steemit journey. Keep it up po

Thank you @jacinta.sevilla

You have a great attitude. I like that you pointed out that there is unfortunately an entitlement attitude amongst new members (and others.) You'll continue to be a great Steemian especially if you follow your own advice here

Thanks for the support ☺

Good work bro and thanks for reminding us with this post .@abmakko

Thanks for reading. steem on 😊

Nice

thanks 👍

Thank you for adding in that cautionary note. I'm still trying to figure out the economy, and I will definitely keep that in mind!

you are welcome, i am happy to help

Thanks for the tip. I've made a note of it and will pay attention when I get to the point of tackling the currency part.

I'm still fairly new here myself and totally agree with your advice. Being here as a person who wants to meet new people and learn new things makes it easy to do things in a genuine way and it's working well for me.

Coming in with no expectations helped as well!

Welcome to the community, I hope you find everything you want from steemit!

Thank you @byn. wish you a Merry Christmas, 🎄⛄
