Steemit!!! — !New Tag! — Environmental Project — erasethetrace

The idea —
A new STEEMIT tag where you can earn STEEM by helping to clean up our planet. If you are out in nature walking, hiking, picnicking or whatever and take the time to pick up the garbage you see along the way you can earn STEEM! Take a picture of the garbage you collected and a picture of the beautiful place that you helped to clean up, then, post those two photos to a new STEEMIT post and use the tag erasethetrace. I will give a 100% upvote for any post using this tag. My votes are not worth a whole lot as of yet but I am sincerely hoping we can get some more people onboard with this idea and start using the power of STEEM and this wonderful platform to help cleanup our world!!!

I came up with the idea for this project when I was in Acadia National Park in Maine last weekend. I was sitting in a beautiful protected little cove on the side of the sea playing guitar. It was truly a beautiful spot. When I got up to leave I noticed a little bit of plastic garbage next to me on the ground, so I picked it up and shoved it in my pocket. Then on the way back to the car I saw another one, and then another and another, and once you pick up one it becomes very difficult not to pick up the next one. It only took me about three minutes to clean up the little space where I was, and when I left I had a pretty good little pile of junk.

That evening I took a little hike out to an ocean overlook for sunset and got another good little haul.

Several People thanked me that evening as I was walking back to the parking lot with my collection and I felt a wonderful warm sense of having done good.

I hope some of you will join me on this mission and help to maintain this beautiful planet we were given.
