The use of appropriate tags and its implications

Hello everyone, been thinking of what to write all morning, something light and will sure to pass out a good and meaningful information as related to the steemit community.

Then it struck me while going through other users post, something so simple and yet hard to comprehend by many especially the new users.

Here with you today is @otemzi and will be discussing the topic TAG, so do well to read it all as it may be somewhat of important to you or that new user you are about inviting into this great platform

What is meaning of tag ?

Looking at a very popular social media with reference to Facebook, when making a post a user can tag someone alongside the post and in return the post is seen on their feed or they get the notification.

Steemit is more or less the same, with the use of steemify created by the @blockbrothers you can easily get the notification but then it is limited to IOS users, from the current post made by @exyle seems the android version will be coming but they need to first find a developer. So, guys if you know someone that know someone please pass the info, there is bound to be a reward there I think.

In steemit, there is the option to tag a topic and tag another user as well making it a double and better way of passing information

When making a post, there is a provided option where users can make a minimum of one tag and a maximum of five as the case may be upon writing this post which is Friday Jan 12, 2018. Don’t know what the future holds.

Has a new user, when making your first post the issue of what to tag comes in place and if you were not properly guided about this, it becomes quite a nuisance and you end up using the inappropriate tag making your work invincible or even tag spam.

Tag spam?

Yes, that’s the act of using tags that is not in anyway related to your post example,

• Making a post about cooking and end up using steemit, steem, utopian, funny and what have you, what might have probably lead to this is

Having gone through some post from the trending page, you found out that users with such tag tends to earn more and you in turn would love to earn like them, then the need to use such tags come in place.

Whereas, such post probably should have cooking, blog, home and what have you. You end up making such great post invisible from the field of other users and making it hard for curators to sort such work out.

In essence what am trying to say is that, when making use of tag one should look for related post and tag appropriately, Click Me to see the list of tags that's currently shown to users. Many might not be there currently as they are yet to become popular.

Also, tag is still necessary when participating in a competition as it enables the authors to easily locate works that are relevant to their competition.

The arrangement does not really matter as your post can been seen from the tag you selected, but for proper arrangement, it is best you make your first tag that which it is really related to.

Take for example ME, say I blog about games, my first tag would be the gaming tag as it will provide proper visibility and those willing to curate my work would see the need to.

Say in my country Nigeria, when applying for JAMB Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, you are expected to pick out three different universities choices and your first choice, should be your best choice as most schools consider this a lot when compiling their admission list.

Same thing can be said here on steemit, all tags are relevant but your first should be somewhat special.

To this, I say do well to properly tag your work as to create more visibility and get more readers/viewers and do not be bothered about having a low payout as you are being noticed even when no comments is dropped or even an upvote.
