Don't tell me what I can and can't post

in steemit •  5 years ago  (edited)

There are certain things in life that nags at me. One of them are people telling me what I should be putting on my channel/posts.

Linked videos? Shared because I can and deem them important. Is steemit not a social media outlet?

From memory it is.. then why go and say not to paste anything I want or see as getting my attention to share for my audiences. I am not claiming to be perfect but fuck you for stating is "frowned up".

Bother to look closely and you will notice I do add text to give context and even source the link so it's referenced.

Virtue signalling

You might have been and are actively monitoring people that don't reference and Act like what they post are theirs.. who polices your policing.. no one.

The size of your wallet does not mean your reasoning are infallible..

@akumagai... what happened?

I linked a Youtube video about bitcoin and the discussion resonated with me.

This platform I am using to replace Facebook and Youtube I can help it.

And I get a comment saying its frowned upon if I place text from other sources. It was referenced, linked and I even added context on why it was posted here. I dont like to waffle on when I post things like that since the material/post should be enough to disseminate.

I don't like adding too much, especially if its good content. Tends to overshadow.

More importantly commenting without actually reading the full post shows lack of effort on their part.

I can't seem to find the post. Did you remove it? Or am I just missing it?

Aaah, now I get it.

Yep, those things are considered to be plagiarism on here.
The Cheetah bot automatically detects content that is already posted anywhere else on the web.
You're not allowed to copy/paste any content.

You probably would have gotten away away with it if you had only used the first paragraph and added a '>' in front of it.

This is how it would look like then

Then, right underneath that quoted text, you should have added: '(Source: https:/...)'

That's simply how it is here. I don't think it is a bad thing... plagiarism is against the law. On top of that, this platform is about content creation, plus adding text that already exists on the web is bad for the site's ranking in the search engines.

You'll need to be more careful in the future.

It's always a good idea to to rewrite the content in your own wording. that way, it is always unique.
