Is Steemit Just Becoming Another Community of Oligopolies?

For those of you who don't know, an oligopoly is when a small number of businesses own virtually all of a market share. This is actually a very common thing. As you can see from the above image CBS, NBC, Time Warner and Disney almost own the entire market when it comes to TV Networks. I'm starting to feel the same way about Steemit. It's the same few people who have every post featured, get tons of views and have a great deal of power. It's no mystery, Steemit is run by the Whales, and as a lowly Minnow, it is tough to catch up. There are some amazing help sources for the people that are newer to the platform such as the bots @minnowsupport and @banjo, but still it feels like a tedious climb just to have one article get attention. I would really like to see some of these more powerful members contribute more to the people who are lower standing in the community. I myself will be looking at, resteeming and upvoting articles from the minnows that I feel are doing a good job once I gain more influence on this platform. If we want Steemit to be truly successful we need to make it so that everyone has the opportunity to grow, be heard and make make money on this platform should they work hard and contribute.
