Steem is in beta state which means there are bugs expected. Maybe none, maybe a lot of them. This is far from a final product so be patient.
I saw your kind of error before and that is interface issue, not blockchain. The site or app you are using to interact with the blockchain, failed to get the payout date properly and displaying it as 1970.01.01, which is the basic date.
As much as I see, you are not using Steemit but some kind of mobile application. Why do you blame Steemit for the error than?
