Climexit Trump Leaves The Paris Accord

Yesterday President Donald Trump anounced he was leaving the Paris accord. The Paris Accord is a 2015 U.N. agreement on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The United States is the first withdraw from the agreement. Only Nicaragua is not part of the agreement. Donald Trump claimed in his anouncement that the agreement would affect American jobs while financing foreign jobs. He claimed that the restrictions placed on the U.S. were higher than other major industrial nations. That many of the higher polluters have to achieve their goals in ten years while the U.S.A. has to start to achieve them now. What Trump seems worried about is the potential for these countries to gain a competitive advantage over the U.S. Trump spoke about how the U.S. has to cut back on coal while other countries like China do not. Trump also spoke of the financing the U.S. is supposed to give to many of these countries to support their change to the new industries.
Is Trump correct on these charges? The actual treaty and it's implementation is not information openly available. The U.N. gives summary information that seems more worded to support the treaty. Some information is found at the world bank site which is interesting since it speaks of the economic interest the key players of this treaty have. That site had a very simple break down of the treaty and it's obligations. What is stated in these sites is that China ,the largest contributer of greenhouse gases in the world, is given lee way not to stop their strong emissions like other nations. The reason is that China might be industrialized but is treated as a developing nation. China doesn't want to stop it's economic rise and the U.N. agreed. The U.N. compromise was that China was to gradually increase restrictions on their greenhouse emissions so that the peak of Chinese greenhouse emissions would be less than it would be if China just did business as usual. The United States has been lowering its emissions during business as usual without the agreement.
