Can someone explain how to insert GIFS into posts?

Stupid question I know but I can't see how to do it using the 'styling with Markdown' feature. I think the site would benefit from a page explaining some of the elementary stuff.
Any help is appreciated! :)

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
