To keep your Steem account safe, you need to save the master password and keep it in a safe place. The primary password is used to get all your account keys, including the owner's key. If you sign in with your wrench, make sure you do not overwrite or misplace your main keywords.

The Steemit FAQ explains why passwords are long and random for maximum account security. There is no way to recover your account if you lose your keyword or owner's key! Since your account has real value, it's important that you keep your master password in a safe place where you will not lose it.

It's also highly recommended that you keep a copy of your offline password in a safe place in case of a hard drive failure or other disaster. Consider offline digital storage, such as an external disk or flash drive, and printing paper. Use the safe deposit box for the best redundancy. On June 7, 2017 Krzysztof Szumny (@noisy) discovered a flaw in the design that made his cousin accidentally enter his own password into the wrong field (scrap field), when he made the transfer. He wrote the manuscript and warned all the steemians caught in the same mistake.

Manage Buttons

If you do not properly manage your keys, you run the risk of jeopardizing your account.

If you get a hack, you give them access to every key you have in Steemit. The loss of your key will result in loss of access to your account. Locks should be kept private and secure.

Lock post

The key post is used exclusively for posting posts, applying upvotes and downvotes, choosing and not selecting followers and disabling accounts.

Post lock is the safest way to sign in to your account. This limits the privileges of those who use it for functions that do not have access to the wallet, thus maintaining the security and security of tokens.

Post lock offers the safest way to access your account on a regular basis and it is recommended that you develop the habit of using it as a primary way of signing in to your account.

Lock on

The active key must ONLY need to be used to confirm transactions or trades or change user settings.

Do not use your active key to login for posting and upvoting every day. Use your post key instead.

Memo Key

The Memo key is used to handle private messages.

The memo key is the only key that can encrypt and decrypt private messages sent and received through your account.

Primary key

The master key is the key with the highest privilege level. This is the key needed to change all the other buttons. This is the key to be carefully guarded against loss or theft. With this key, your account can be completely taken over by malicious parties. The loss of this key severely restricts the operation of the account.

Do not use master key for posting, or funds transfer. Use the lower privilege keys to keep your account safe.

Finding the Steem Button

Your Steem Key is found in your wallet under permissions tab. Replace your actual username for your username in the example shown.

Securing Your Account

• Secure the main keyword you created when you first sign up somewhere nobody will find it.

• Please show your private key by clicking the button and copy it to a place no one else can find.

• Show your active private key by clicking the button then copy it to safe place.

• You can copy a personal memo if you need but you probably will not need it.

• Now copy your private post key and use that as a keyword to login.
