➡Steemit's Fb + Twitter Accounts Are Pretty Dead. Let Me Revive Them By Becoming Community Manager!⬅

in steemit •  7 years ago

Dear Steemit community,

It has come to my attention that the Steemit Twitter and Facebook accounts are pretty much dead.

Inactive.

As you can see in this post from @vlemon

https://steemit.com/steemit/@vlemon/and-x1f4e3-did-someone-kidnap-our-steemit-community-managers-and-x1f4e3

Now this I think is a waste.

We have a golden opportunity here to do quite a few things and it is not being taken.

Just think of the brilliant posts that could be shared on these social media.

Or simply the fact that the new users who are coming to the blockchain (who are obviously going to check the FB and Twitter profiles) are seeing that there is a complete radio silence on the official social media channels.

Doesn’t look good does it?

So I have a proposal for you.

Let me do a bit of the work.

I used to be a freelance social media manager for a range of companies.

So this is what I have to offer:

I will post amazing posts written by our fellow Steemians that are having an impact on our community.

I will retweet good posts that I feel deserve to be seen more.

But most importantly, I will interact with the people who come to the profiles.

I will make them feel seen.

I will make them feel heard.

Especially the baby minnows who have a gazillion questions on how things work.

I know where they can find the information they are looking for.

And if I don’t, I sure as hell know a lot of people who do!

And in return, the social media channels will grow organically and our platform will look alive and thriving!

I am a sharer.
And I spend most of my online Steemit life interacting with people, helping them out and spreading posts around that I feel deserve to be seen more.

This ALL comes naturally to me.

And this is also why I would enjoy being partially responsible for the fb and twitter accounts!

And even though I myself am a very personal, emotion-filled human being who is unashamed of being her weird self online, I promise to keep it official and ‘business’ on your social media channels.

Plus I wouldn’t abuse it to promote myself or the projects I am involved in.

Isn’t it an idea to have a few people who are responsible for keeping the profiles active?

I know a few great Steemians who I’d think would also do a good job and wouldn’t abuse it for personal gain.

So @ned, steem devs or anyone else that can get this post in front of the eyes responsible for the official social media channels, please consider my proposal.

I would ABSOLUTELY love to do it.

My heart and soul is invested in Steem(it) and I would love to have this opportunity to give back to the community!

Please please please think about it.

With all the Steem in my heart,

Ashley

I think we need this. And just by making this post, you've shown enough initiative and enthusiasm. I think you'd be perfect!

I would be all for this... Whoever is running things now is absolutely failing!

Indeed, even posting once per week would seem like a huge improvment...
Do we even know who was managing the social networks before?

I don't. I do know that whoever was around in summer to maybe mid-fall was friendly and responsive to everyone. Now it's crickets... :-/

I will try and find out!! :)

not failing .
just wait for the right time

I deactived FB for a while. Seeing people leave Twitter en masse recently, makes me think Steemit will grow organically. In the top 1500 most visited sites on the planet today!

Great idea! :) This would be a fantastic solution to spread the amazing content of fellow steemians, while reducing the selfish influences of personal gain.

Yup!

If you're qualified and can do a great job like you say, I'm in full support of your endeavor. I love how involved people are in the Steem community! We're going places!

i love your post

Hopefully this good intentions are listened to by @ned.

I support you! The last person was doing OK on Twitter for a while, but I remember some small issues. Having a dedicated person handling Steemit's social media would be great.

Only thing is, steemit is a private company separate from Steem so you'd ultimately have to talk to them. I don't think it is the kind of thing that the community can simply "vote" for or decide to do itself, since Steemit is a company (unlike Steem, the blockchain, which is open source / public)

absolutely right .
hope for the best

Cutting ties from established social media site is not a good strategy. We have to remember that steemit is still an infant. So social media promotion should be considered seriously.
Hope that your offer will be considered with proper authority.

Go for it @ashleykalila. I am in support of you. I know you will do great.

@seyiodus.
#steemsugar.

I think you'd be excellent at this! I hope the right people see this and make it happen!! 😊

Resteemed + supported! I think it's a great idea. We could be reaching a wider audience with more social posting. Are there Steemit ambassadors on other platforms - I know there are YouTube influencers active on Steemit who bring Steemit to YouTube, but any IG/FB/Twitter influencers?

Very good this post, you have my vote. I already follow you and I invite you to go through my blog maybe something you like and you can support me with your vote. Greetings.

Great idea - Steemit needs more of a presence on other socials to drive people here!

I support this movement.

@andrarchy is the community liaison for Steemit. Maybe worth speaking to him?

You'd be great at livening up their Facebook and Twitter pages <3

The steemit twitter account used to retweet me a lot, but nothing in the last few months. Time for new management and I support your effort to become that!

definitely correct

Dear Ashley, I added you to Discord. Regards

Forget Facebook
It is run by AI with little or no way (deliberately) to contact management.
Groups are a dead loss to promote anything
And advertising throwing good money after bad.

There ARE better ways to promote Steemit to people who will contribute to it beyond giving FB all their personal details and activities to make money for shareholders.

I would support this!! You're awesome @ashleykalila

I believe @hilarski used to be in charge of it - he may be a good contact (also in the FB group) to find out why this has been abandoned and how it could be revived again?

Go for it!! Although I have left Facebook with all its negativity and fake news and Twitter I only check for Cryptocurrency news.

Steemit has been my go to platform!

Yes just getting the message from these two platforms will make a difference and with your quirky ( you said you will try to reign it in) but that's what makes you unique and approachable!

Well social media is all about connecting people with each other you can make new friends. But nowadays what is happening social media is used to learn new things and it's working fine for learning purpose.

This is a great idea! Having an active presence on all social media channels is beneficial in many ways.

If you have current content posted regularly, people are more likely to share the posts and give you more engagement and reach. I usually have to find good posts on Steemit and share them myself, but having recent posts on Steemit's social media channels makes it easier and more likely for others to share.

Good luck with your efforts!

Just hack them xD
Yeah, you would so a great job!

Great idea @ashleykalila, I see the value in this! I do wonder however, if the fb page is crickets because when it's a business or organization page rather than a personal page, you can't do any proactive interacting on FB so it has very limited usefulness. But if someone is searching for steemit info, I do see that the fb page could be helpful while they consider joining steemit so I support your idea.
