Hi again everyone! I am keeping my word to keep the series going!
I would like you to comment with your visual aids or written ideas of what you think Steemit can use to improve the Community for features and why.
Comments sections here are GOLD as we know, some great TIL learning and tips usually pop up too here.
Part of the reason I do this series and share other things / series I do, is for the TON of new people coming to Crypto and Steemit daily, I mention this daily in a post or comment somewhere.
They need help and resources. They feel lost when they are Steemit / Crypto noobs. I know I did.
Comments sections are great learning places for all of us -- but new Crypto folks especially.
It's now several weeks or so after the latest big changes, the latest Hard Fork (HF) / the Steem Powering downs latest rounds, many of those cashouts done and seeing some stabilizations, some bugs fixed etc.
The rewards pool is seeing a lot of changes again.......
Views, Spam, Engagement & Meaningful Comments:
Views and engagement still seem to be down and that is why I try to do so many posts / series to BOOST engagement.
The last while I have been wondering if it simply because we have so many accounts here now.
I was the first person to blog that I am aware of - of us crossing the $300k account mark recently here. The other part of me is thinking -- how many of those are just bots because that is a rising problem?
And if there ARE that many accounts.... one might think the comments section would be growing exponentially with all our posts too, right?
Spam and spammy comments are one of the biggest topics now every single day in the community here and many of us are struggling with it, and how to deal with it.
It's OK to gather new ideas but if the same issues pop up, that is great too, because it will send the message that something is more important to the developers and Steemit Elders. My goal is again - use this blog post as a resource to help the dev's and the community members. I can combine them into one post later on if needed to help developers or members.
It is easily searchable also -- as I use the same key phrases / words etc. in the title to keep it searchable - more easily.
I was trying to pick good tags...... I decided to use the TIL or HOWTO tags -- hoping someone either looking FOR help on learning something -- or someone looking TO help on these things would comment! I thought about that one for a couple mins.
If you want to tag people or share it so others can comment and contribute also, that is great. I have my own ideas and see a lot of people talking about it, but as someone who is NOT - I REPEAT NOT! tech savvy like many of you, and who is relatively newer to the Blockchain and Crypto stuff, I know my role is limited to give ideas, I am just a Fat Minnow LOL.
But I have been an activist for years, I am used to building community and gathering info and trying to help so I guess you can blame the activist side of me for this idea which I think is a good one -- an INTENTIONAL POST on the idea, to gather stuff in one place and be easily searchable and findable for all the IT types and developers etc.
Just my way of trying to contribute. I did not even know for sure what tags to use in this post, and I actually spent 5 mins looking and researching the best ones in the past to try and use, before I posted this LOL. I will edit the tags ASAP if you give me better ones to use!!
Noobs can find the TIL or HowTo tags and nuggets here helpful, as I mentioned earlier here.
If we can get some good feedback going, we can use these ideas, all in one place and people can refer back to them. That's why E.1 / E.2 /E.3...4/5/6/7/8/9, etc etc - was in the title, I am hopeful it is helpful as a resource.
We must always head towards the path of Liberty. And help others on this path.

steemit should have less conversations about crypto and more conversations about life.
less than one tenth of one percent want to talk about crypto and it's the only way you truly will grow.
additionally, people should practice being careful when giving others advice on what to do with a volatile "currency."
Yes, I see the irony in this comment.
Edit: The need...some sort of verification or disclosure system.

I would love to see the paradigm shift that would occur if Bots were no longer allowed to vote or flag. The terms 'Quality Post" and "Quality Curation" go right out the window when a Bot upvotes, flags, or replies. Let them scan and compile the blockchain to their little mechanical heart's content, but make it so only mammalian humans can vote.
Chat would be cool, but Discord works pretty good.

or to have extra checks in place so you had to prove you weren't a bot. something preventative, but not tooo annoying to reduce engagement... though the real people are probably willing to go through one more hoop if it means no more bots... plus we could translate the internet in the process!

Steemit should add Chat here.
It should also have referral Program.
And one more thing which is mentioned in my post below.

Excellent suggestions... especially like the suggestion to read the comment area because You're right, often there will be additional details/nuances that can be found that can really make a difference in a better/fuller understanding.
Of course, if a person is going to read the comments, then it makes sense for them to comment as well to engage the person that wrote the post AND admittedly, sometimes I don't always write a comment, which is "my bad".
Thank You Barry... Hope You're having a Good Week...
Cheers !!

Limit Occurrence Of Upvote Same Account
There are a lot of loopholes that allow spammers and bots to engage in self-upvoting. Creating networks to upvote them, buy upvotes for their garage comments and such.
After you have upvoted someone for the 5th time in a 24 hour period your next upvote(s) toward that account have dimensioning returns in a greatly increasing curve. The upvotes still add to the upvote count; however, the value in reward they add decrease greatly toward zero.
Downvotes, on the other hand, have to remain as they currently are. It’s the only way to combat people spamming and those finding loopholes to game the system.
Directly Dealing With Spam
After the same exact message has been sent to the blockchain by the same user more than 5 times in a 24 hour period the blockchain rejects the submission by that user and displays an error. “User has trigger spam flood protection please discontinue this action or risk having your account locked for 12 hours.”
To not cripple legit spam on the platform that has a positive purpose such as disclosure, warnings, or something the community finds “funny/fun.” Witness in the top 20 in rank are allowed to whitelist users so they do not trigger said flood protection.
This measure will be easy to get around but should kill off any “dumb” bot(s) and make it easier for the community to focus on other types of spam and or abusive exploiting things.

Referral Rewards Should Be Added
Referral Rewards Should Be Added on steemit platform, so that more and more people can join this platform. New content will be generated that will increase steemit value, more person will hold & use the currency that will lead to mass adoption, which will eventually increase the steem value.

I'm sorry to hear that, my friend. I am not surprised, however, that even though things are down, you are still striving to help others and do your part to make the world a better place. That's the way to fight against the awful. You are so appreciated, Barry. Don't forget that.

We need to motivate undervalued authors and push their posts up. Weed out spmers and scammers . Steemit deserve more articles about life and science instead of crpto...

Let's see if I can come up with a top 10
1 people act freely, people react freely (good and bad, let our humanity be what prevails by working together in a common direction)
2 bots have rules of engagement and limits... if we get 10 free upvotes, we should have limits on how many comments a bot can make and some way to see the copy pastes.. you wanna say hi to newbies but can't balance a life/job and fulltime Steemit account... don't blame you... but keep the boting to a minimum and don't be silly.... too much
3have a way to keep YOUR posts separate from YOUR RESTEEMs. I like to promote other people's work but most people can't find mine because of my resteeming proclivities.
4 Explain steemit better. I have been on here for over months with my main handle @ecoknowme and decided to get this one as a personal choice, for me to be me and my project to be just about that. Still haven't fluffed this profile out, obviously... but that decision came from an understanding that dawned many weeks into being on here. If more resources were available to explain this place, I would have done many things differently.
5 Everyone should consider doing a weekly curation blog post to share what they really liked/found. Finding things is TOUGH on here and until that fixes itself/we do, everyone appreciates good, new content.
6 business people (OTHER than crypto enthusiasts) should show how steemit can be used TODAY to replace many sites and systems we still think we depend on. I have written about it in various posts as @ecoknowme but the gist is this: people are treating their monster truck blogs like tricycles. We CAN do more, we are stifled by comfort, habit and lack of imagination.
7 people should be able to form groups like on crackbook to better separate and unite friends and interests into easy to organize and navigate groups and subgroups. Preppers, homesteaders, permaculture people, cryptons, nature lovers, photo buffs etc etc are already trying to organize one post at a time or through mixed followings, but just having a place to click a whole group/category would be pretty nice no?
8 power should be balanced with responsibility. I don't think Steemit needs to be a force of moral outrage or thought police but some sort of guidelines for what to expect on each of the rungs of cybermarine e-evolution (minnow, dolphin whale, land walker...bird alien etc) You don't have to be nice, or generous or amazing, but if you don't know what your power is as you get bigger or don't see how misuses of power might be misunderstood by lil fishies, perhaps a bit of advice could be compiled from the 4-500+ days steemit has been going. If people have $10 000 in their profile and don't see what the fuss is to others who might have just arrived.... such existential issues should and will be worked out one way or another. The idea that you could see someone in a crowd and know how much they have is weird to me on and offline... I don't think people are desensitized to this new variable in human engagement/interactions. The last season of Black Mirror should also be watched by people venturing into Steemit, just as a thought exercise in the impacts of technology on our sense of self, identity, worth and social merit. All that is being LITERALLY experimented with on here and we want to be cool and pretend like we fully understand the difference or impact of such a reality. I can go check your wallet now and even get some BTC and send it to you because I like your stuff and want to support you. But I don't have BTC, only the Steemit I have earned through blither. How much does your rep or wallet subconsciously impact my willingness or terms of engagement with you? Will I be more agreeable and less contrarian because I want to make a good impression? probably, but you also seem like a cool cat anyway so why does any of that crap need to play into it anyway.
10 write long comments that prove you are a human somewhere on Earth. Say something meaningful that might connect with other emotionally, intellectually spiritually or don't bother. Life is precious and your online life should be an extension of your offline life... not an escape, fantasy, excuse or opportunity to hang your humanity at the door. We are people not bots, prove it and enjoy the gift of being an imperfect being shouting into the blockchain. Call people out when they don't take the opportunity and applaud whatever little efforts people make to be themselves genuinely.
Someone fill in what number 9 would be for them, I think I leave it here.
