The ULTIMATE Crash Course & Guide for Steem Newbies!

in steemit •  9 years ago  (edited)

Hello fellow Steemians

I was browsing through the "new" section of Steem today and realized that many people ignore or just does not know about some basic things and often very essential rules. This is why I want to present my top 5 hints for much better start on steemit.com.

AND ACTION!

Nr.1 :

Lets start our list with a more obvious one. Blogging is all about entertainment. Your blogs should entertain your readers. Don't get me wrong. This does not mean your blog should be always funny. Your blog can entertain in many ways. You can be educational for example with tutorials or interesting article or you can create a topic which leads to people discussing it in the comment. There is no rule for the content. Get creative and remember to have fun.

Nr.2

Now after you are done with the writing, you have to pay attention to your categories. Your chose of tags or categories can be crucial for the success of your post. Your first categories is the main one. Choose it wisely. For example if your post is about photography however you only take pictures of people doing yoga (this is just an example, couldn't find a better one, sorry ), your first category should be photography rather than yoga. Because it is first about you being a photographer and then comes the yoga part.

Nr.3

let's stay with the categories for a moment. Now it is about choosing categories. Before you choose your categories take a look at the right side of your main page. You can find a list of popular categories and tags there. Look up your category there first. For example lets say you are an professional athlete and you want to make a post about your sport. Of course your first tag should be "sport". However in this case there is also a tag called "sports" in the tags section. You would lose potential readers just because you didn't type an "s". One more thing, always spell check your tags or maybe google them. I a lot of posts with the tag "introduseyourself".

Nr.4

Create user engagement. Let people feel like they are part of your post. Ask them questions, participate in the comment section, upvote comments to show people you agree with them. All these improve the readers experience and they are more likely to come back at your next post.

Nr.5

Last but not least: Listen to @wang. Who is wang? Wang is the hard working bot who comments on every "introduceyourself" post. He got some really good hints in his pocket. An important one is to not forget to tag your post as NSFW if it e.g contains sexual content. Just take your time and read through his comment. You wont regret it.
