Is Steemit actually Censor Free?

So I am speaking on living in America, and here we have what we call the Constitution, and right off the bat with amendment 1 "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

So everyone and I mean EVERYONE is entitled to a opinion, whether you disagree, or YOU think it is stupid, or if it IS JUST PLAIN WRONG. Easiest example: I believe all the flat earthers are just stupid, but they are entitled to their opinion. NOW there is a boarder line, when their opinion, or they think they can just lets say rob a place because they think they can, or don't have to obey speed limits because their opinion is they shouldn't have too. That is why there are laws for things like that, but what about Steemit. We all say it is censorship free, but WE CAN DOWN VOTE.

Or more importantly how to avoid getting whale down votes. Because if you get on the wrong side of someone who disagrees with you, they can censor you all day. We have seen it many times, and I feel people from youtube are trying steem out to get away from censorship, but is there really any place censorship free?

Big difference between censorship on Steemit and other platforms:

Here - Nothing can be taken off the blockchain. You can always prove you said it if need be. You can also create your own site that shows ALL data on the blockchain if you're so inclined.
There - Total deletion of your content. As if it never existed.

Here - Individual censorship by peers.
There - Mass censorship by central authorities.

Ya so there is still censorship, and the main thing is it is stake weighted censorship. you could have a 1000 people love it, but one whale could wipe it all out. I theory being a central authorities, or just a jackass.

Well the flat earthers are on another level of existence, I think they even have courage to think the earth is flat, no pun intended lol, well whales or no whales I try to be minimal with my information and posts really.

I think the flat earthers just do it to get attention.

Hahsha but they could've gotten attention believing something less funny😀

hey bro, it’s a risk but they can’t erase what you wrote at least. Perhaps the financial incentive is gone, but your message stil gets out. so like when things are hidden; they just say click me to see lol

Ya, it is a monetary risk, but by doing that it guarantees less eyes will see it for sure.

An excellent question indeed... I would say at the moment, you and I still have the privacy and censorship free space of our own minds.

But I fear even our own mind's privacy will be breached with future tech..

Ya so we have one place and it is in our head, that might be a lonely place.

This is actually a very interesting topic that I haven't considered.

True censorship doesn't exist on here because you are still freely able to always speak your mind and nobody can take that away from you. People who can shout louder than you being able to overshadow you does pose a problem that I can absolutly see, though.

I think that what Steemit has is still better than most of what other social platforms provide, but it isn't perfect yet. One could argue that this is good because that means that it can still be improved on and as long as people like you are concerned about this, there is definatly potencial for said improvement.

Very interesting point @bigram13 it is like flowing with the river...if you try to swim against it....you might not able to. And you need to give up. ...in other word...is like "boss is always right" ...keep afffirmative with the whales then ok...if you are not then you wrong....also i noticed...whales keep voting among themselves..and not to many new users and minnow...i made a post on it too...

Wise question....@bigram13.you are a good steamian. And you think about steemit.

Interesting thoughts there @bigram13 It is definitely less censored than Youtube... and I suppose the difference here is, that the censorship is being done by your own peers, as opposed to a large multinational.. But the down voting issue is quite serious.. In my opinion, you should have to justify your downvote, and it should have to be related to the actual post, and not the poster.. Play the ball, not the man... But, of course this is just my opinion, and many may disagree... But, I must say overall, Steemit is wonderful... It has no trowels that I've seen, and for the most part people conduct themselves very well... It is the closest to how people converse with each other in real life... On many other platforms, you have people hiding behind handles and being abusive, it is great that Steemit doesn't allow this kind of behaviour by design..

Well the amount of people are getting into steem Blockchain from other sites is indeed great and I sure love that but there will always be issues at almost everything .

While anyone would love to get the upvote of a whale nit that downvote and getting away that is indeed the real deal.

Yes that's interesting, with enough downvotes it becomes a bit censored

Hello! We are lucky that even here we have freedom so we must take advantage of it while we have it.

Yeah you’re right about everyone having their own opinions. Everyone is entitled to a believe, a point of view , ideas but when all these gets to the wrong side and work in opposite direction, then one finds oneself in the wrong place.

I think flag option be retired. it causes all the negativity on the platform.
