Steemit users Upvote without even looking?

in steemit •  7 years ago

Hello Fellow Steemit users.

I just noticed something that suggests:

Steemit users vote without looking.

Unless I am missing something, in which case I hope for someone to clarify.

Look at the screenshot that i cut from the bottom of my previous post

https://steemit.com/cooking/@bix/duck-with-apples-simpler-than-you-think-yummy

===================================================

====================================================

It shows that my post got 22 votes (never mind making a whole 2 cents ha ha!)

But it also shows that this post was viewed 5 times, including myself, which means that only 4 people actually saw what they upvoted.

Is my interpretation seems correct to you?

If it is, then a logical conclusion would be that based on this particular post which is of course is not a statistics but simply an indication, nevertheless:

less than 1/4 of the Steemit members actually read the content and simply upvote in a "gold rush" hoping that the post they have not even seen but judged by the title and the picture will become trending/hot post and maybe they would make a cent (hopefully) on that post?

Would anyone have any better explanation?

@ausbitbank, thank you for clarification!

SOLVED:
Apparently the number if views that Steemit shows is ONLY for those viewed on the Steemit web site. This number does not come from the blockchain. Blockchain is accessed from many different interfaces and Steemit is just one of them.It would be so much better if they did not show that "statistics" which is not representing the reality at all anymore (as far as the number of views).

Ok, one more little mystery about Steemit is off my list. Hope it would help you too.

No, it's still an issue. Yeah it doesn't count other platforms, it just counts loads of the page, but still true.

Yeah it's true. That's how we're ending up with upvotes on phishing posts.

Yes it is possible to get that number of view and for your post to earn that low. The first question i will ask you is that:
On which platform did you post your article from?

  1. When you post through esteem app,you will be given about 22 upvote for free,without this user viewing you post. It is work like a trail for using esteem app.

  2. It depends on the steem power of the people that vote your post. People with less steem power even when the upvote you at 100% and 50 people vote it is hard to give you 1$.

  3. The voting power of the people that voted your post. Most people voting power may have gone down the drain for them upvoting your post is like the are adding nothing to it. To get the secret use. Steemnow.com to check the voting power of people that upvote your post and at what voting power. I hope this explaination help you.

Hi
Thank you for your reply.
Although my point was entirely different.
I didn't care at all about those 2 cents. It was a little sarcastic passing remark that was unrelated to the main issue I described. I know that too often users' upvotes worth nothing. It's a sad reality but wasn't the point.

The issue that I described compared the number of votes to number of page views.

Naturally you would expect that number of votes cannot exceed the number of page views.

To my surprise the number of votes was more than 4 times of the number of page views!

Impossible?

This is what I thought and was looking for an explanation.

Then I've found the explanation and I posted it in my reply under the post, see where it says SOLVED.

Now I can sleep well. LOL.

Ok,base also on the nunber of upvote and the view. It was also explain in the explaination. That is not to be argue but the fact that it is now solved.
