Re-posting on steemit: To do or not to do?

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

So, you spent all week putting together your creative masterpiece, only to have it slip through the new posts to obscurity on steemit with barely a ripple. Is it worth posting it again? Perhaps at a different hour, perhaps on a different day, maybe change the title or the thumbnail, or even some mild editing and re-writes.

How does steemit deal with re-submissions? Are they frowned upon? Will it be recognized and flagged as plagiarism as it matches your original post? Or is it completely fine to wait a week or 2 and re-post hoping that 2nd time around somebody catches the brilliance they missed the first and it trends its way to the stars.

Would appreciate any feedback or advice on this topic. Cheers

Great post with a damn good question, one to which I would also like to know the answer too. Thanks

The key is honesty and clarity. Add "repost" either to the title or prominently in the post, ideally with a link to the original at the end. As long as people don't feel decieved it is fine.

From a social responsibility perspective I agree 100%, but I'm also curious as to how the platform itself treats re-posts. Is there anything in the algorythms which penalizes them? Thanks for your reply :)

There is absolutely nothing in the algorithm about it. You will probably have @cheetah automatically commenting but that's no big deal

Ok, that's good to know, thanks. What would you consider a reasonable time before re-posting? 1 week?

4 weeks simply because that's how long the reward for the first is still gathering. You'd be better off bumping the original before then.

Good question. I often post what I think is award winning content, only for it to slip through the cracks into obscurity. It could be because of external factors like the time of day, my choice of tags or my level of drunkness - but deep down I think it's just because nobody is ready to get on my potato level.

I'm going to check out some of your other posts now, and upvote them simply because I can count to potato.

Hey thanks! Counting to potato is the first step to potato mastery. You deserve some upvotes too!

I try repost and re edit , it worth the time , i get 23$ from it atleast better than nothing but i suggest dont repost the same as pervious one , do some change in it
