Steemit - Blogger or Facebook of crypto?

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

When I first found steemit I was excited because it seemed like I stumbled upon the next big social media platform.

Now after a couple days of active using I'm highly confused. The community seems to be completely 50/50 split on how they use the site and I don't know which side I should hop on, or if I even should support such a split.

Half of the users seem to treat Steemit like Facebook or Instagram; keeping the posts light, picture heavy and casual. The other half treats it more like Blogger; writing longer, in-depth posts about very certain subjects.

and then there's #cryptocurrency.

Now, I don't really want or need a new FB/IG/Twitter, but I would like to see more casual, every day posts appear into new and hot. RIght now some of the posts I catch in the feeds are very Buzzfeed worthy and almost clickbaiting in a sense, and that's ok to an extent. But there's a reason why I've muted most of the pages like Buzzfeed & co on Facebook and Twitter.

Hopefully masses will flock onto this platform and bring forth a new sense of casual with them. Because right now I'm terrified to post without a well thought idea.
