Alrighty then, so I decided to give Minds.com a try since it is supposedly like Steemit. Uh, no. The user interface is great, very clean and easy to use. Pleasant in fact. A + from me.
Then, I decided to read the users' posts. Sweet baby Jeebus! Incels every freaking where. Small dicked men having hissy fits about everything from school lunches, to gay men wearing comfortable shoes, and lettuce being used by the Left to make children hate white gods. And conspiracy theories galore. Now I have the privilege (cough, cough) of a family member being an internationally known batshit crazy tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theory author - Leo Hohmann - so I know conspiracy lunacy first hand as they make it up. I see it in action as the wheels begin to creak and lurch when he tries to find scripture to back up why the squirrel that keeps hanging around the birdfeeder outside is a Deep State Muslim spy out to get him, but these whack jobs on Minds.com out do Leo. Seriously, that takes real effort.
Looking past these sad little white men - I am white and short so don't start - I am sure it will be an okay platform, but I honestly think the Incels and guys sitting in home-made bunkers jerking off to Donald Trump pictures may scare people off and kill it before it gets off the ground. I'll stick with Steemit.
This is exactly why I decided to stay with Steemit.. I found out about that website too, and honestly, it was kind of more along the lines of what I am trying to avoid in social media.

I was shocked. I like their user friendly layout and one person one vote system, but those people are terrifying. I can't imagine anyone being able to defend themselves when they attack. I did see posts of people staying away from them, and a couple of great articles, but if they are attacked by the group with down votes, they will leave.

Maybe we just need a big group of real people to join and support each other so we don't run into big issues.

I like the concept and execution well enough that I want to give it a try but haven't invested any time in it. Larger numbers of the sane will make it worthwhile.
