Essential Tools: Protect your content from ctrl+c+v theives! [tips on avoiding blog plagiarism]

Steemit is becoming more and more popular as a vessel that bloggers, youtube stars and other creators are migrating, or at the very least cross-posting/promoting their content from their main platforms. This exodus is happened for a couple reasons, but mainly because:

A. Steemit is awesome.
The community here on steemit.com is uniquely mature for an online forum, the steem-conomy as I like to call it, tends to drive away trolls and toxic users.
B. The ads biz isn't payin' what it used to.
Web services and content hosting websites as well as the advertisers themselves have been paying out severely low lately for simple banner ads. This is why more and more often you see advertisements that are interactive or offer incentives to view.

With so many people coming to Steemit from other sites, there is equally as many beginning their blogging careers! Whether you are the former or the latter if your work is any good you are at severe risk of a content burglary. Youtube re-uploaders, the dreaded reposters on reddit, wordpress and others have found ways to plaguerize and promote large quantities of content so they are able to farm organic views at a very quick rate.

Why does this suck so bad? Not only is someone getting paid for your work with little or no editing and absolutely no credit going to you, but it also hurts the SEO ranking your original pieces has, especially if it is viewed by more or rated higher on steemit. You may even be penalized by search engines for plagiarizing "their content'!

Here are some easy ways:

  1. Use one of Copyscape's free banners

That should run some of them off.

  1. Report them to some of the steem police! Off the top of my head I know of @steemcleaners. Let me know in the comments ↓below↓ of other Steemit users dedicated to the good fight. (edit: @hitmeasap, @sherlockholmes and @stellabelle are some others working against content thieves

  2. Run a plagiarism report. This blog lists 10 free choices, i tried plagiarismcheck's free demo on this post. Luckily, 0% means I passed
