10 ADVANTAGES OF QUITTING PORN

Excellent topic to post on!
Porn, as I read in a certain similar NoFap blog post elsewhere on the net, was described as a drug, due to the effects sustained exposure had on the dopamine receptors and the hormone's levels in the body. And unlike most others out there, this is seldom ever told to people, so few have any idea they're hooked to it.

I did notice one or two things I'd disagree with slightly here tho, and those would be that masturbation itself isn't really something one should be ashamed of (nor porn, for that matter, in this perspective), because the driving motivation here is shame. Some might argue that it gets the job done, but by and large, shame-motivation tends to have longer, more detrimental effects over time. What ought to be advised instead, is that porn should be avoided, and masturbation only engaged in when the need arises. It is, after all a form of self-discovery, and often times, through this act one starts to really know themselves sexually, and what they like. If anything, one may instead be advised to utilize their powers of visualization to really place themselves firmly into a scenario of their choosing, and then allow their imagination to take the wheel. I've found that it is an excellent visualization exercise on its own.

As for the dopamine effect-loss of energy and protein thing, there is a Taoist sexual practice which involves masturbating to orgasm, without ejaculation (this is actually something males can do, with practice). So far, it is the greatest sexual practice I have ever heard of, and it is worth a read. It's all the pleasure of sex/masturbation, with none of the less desirable side-effects, and continually renewable.

The other thing I'd disagree with (only in part), is that women are mistreated and harassed by men mostly because of porn. The truth is, most men are not taught the meaning of consent in this day and age (and a great many films that make the box office add to this effect by depicting heroes who essentially just "take what they want" when it comes to women, and so inspire male viewers to do the same, under less than similar circumstances). As an adolescent and teenager, I was exposed to porn pretty early, but never actually harassed a woman (did awkwardly fail at asking girls out on dates tho XD) because I'd heard of this concept of consent, and I'd started piecing together the fact that girls in porn and girls in real life behaved very differently at the finer levels, and eventually it hit me that those girls are simply acting in a certain way, for the camera, and that girls in real life are not. So in both cases, there's still consent being given by the girl when she engages in something sexual (provided her choices are actually being given consideration, of course). It's just that the camera wasn't being run when the consent was being given, and so we as viewers don't see that.

The focus, when it comes to mistreatment of women by men who are not serial rapists or harassers, should be on the notion of consent, and how it works (including certain areas of gray with regards to sexual dynamic and power). Porn is simple the icing on the cake.

Besides all that tho, the post is great, and the other points are solid.

Good job m8! :D
