Istanbul is an important megapold famous for its historical monuments and beautiful natural scenery. It is the only city on two continents where Asia and the European Continent are separated by a narrow seaside "Bosphorus". Having a history of more than 2500 years, Istanbul became an important trading center following the establishment of this strategic region embracing the sea and the land. The historical city of Istanbul is located on a half island on the three sides of Marmara Sea, Bosphorus and Halic. This became the capital of the three world empires, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Turks, and over a period of 1600 years more than 120 emperors and sultans reigned here. The world is the only city with this feature. In the course of development, the city was enlarged four times, each time being built to the west. Built on 7 hills surrounded by 5th century Roman monastery walls, Istanbul is adorned with Sultan mansions such as the masterpieces of Turkish art, the "crown" of the provinces. The silhouette of the city is beautiful, magnificent and peaceful in every direction. The Golden Horn, a very sure harbor, played an important role in the development of the city. The fact that Istanbul is at the center of the world with its features and geographical position such as being at the junction of the main roads to the sea, an easily defended semi-island, ideal climate, rich and generous nature, strategic Bosphorus control and so on.

As the capital of the empires, the state became an administrative center with the religions, and from the time of the establishment of the East Christian Patriarchate, the greatest first churches and monasteries of the Christian world were raised above the pagan temples in this city.
Following the conquest of Istanbul, art works such as artworks, palaces, schools, baths, and other facilities were restored to Turkish character in a period of a hundred years and some of the dilapidated churches were renovated and repaired.
