Hey guys it's Sarah my first post on Steam it generated over 545$.
Here's why so first of all Chad told me about the site and basically he said when you post things that people find valuable they will vote it and whenever somebody uploads it you get money for that so I thought wow that sounds great I have a lot of content that I know is pretty good and I know when you join a social media site you're supposed to add friends and follow people and like their stuff and leave comments well I didn't want to do any of that stuff I wanted to see if people were going to like my story which I linked to the story underneath it's not a story it's an article called seven things I learned about selling and persuasion from the Girl Scouts I didn't want people to just like it or upload it or leave a comment because I did something to them using reciprocity I wanted to see if it would have natural vitality I don't know if that's a word but I wanted to see if it would go viral naturally and see what people thought so Dr. Chad told me that I joined steam it and I had the article sitting in my Google Documents for almost two years now I originally wrote the article sent it to Derek Halpern from social triggers and he actually called me and offered me an interview which is really cool so I knew the article was good it wasn't in my opinion my best article I had some doubts about it but I knew it was pretty good so I posted it and then we went out to dinner and you know I was hanging out with friends and having fun but chad was checking to steam it every now and then for me he was like oh my god your article got thirty cents like after a couple of minutes and I was like woohoo so I mean I wasn't attached to the idea of you know making a ton of money off Zima or anything I just wanted to check it out and see what it was all about by the end of the night Chad was like you're not going to believe this you're up to over $600 so schema is a concurrency and it fluctuates just like the regular dollar and just like Bitcoin fluctuates but anyway the next day the the grand total was 545 dollars and some change so that's the background story here's why it went here's why people paid for it here's a little presentation I made show you alright this is my presentation here's why I post by a total noob made five hundred forty-five dollars seventy five cents without proper formatting without followers and without experience on the platform so my post was valuable here's why even though I didn't know how to use markup and the post wasn't formatted properly for steaming content is more important than design so people found value in what I wrote because the post was over eleven pages long in my Google Documents now it wasn't just long if you write a long post that doesn't guarantee that it's going to be valuable it actually showed the reader how they could apply the tips I wrote about in their life so that they could sell and persuade in their own life but more importantly my post open with a story so when you open a post with a good story it creates an information gap with curiosity and people will actually want to keep reading so they can see how the story ends now expert marketer Derek Halpern from social triggers says that while images and good headlines might grab attention curiosity helps you to keep that attention so readers were curious enough about what I was say in too keep reading and I did this intentionally now stories are the key to persuasion here's why which would you rather read a boring article about research or an entertaining story demonstrating all the same key points that the researchers proved I don't even have to ask I know that people love stories and even before TV and gossip and all this people gathered around campfires to tell stories stories and stories convince and persuade like gangbusters so here's an example from my personal life oops here's an example from my personal life my nephew Brandon is one of the best storytellers that I know he makes everyone laugh all the time hysterically until our stomachs are begging for mercy not not surprising.
