The Power Of Change

You never change things by fighting the existing reality.

To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.

-Buckminster Fuller

In many ways the real power of change comes solely from being in a position to affect change. If it's thought about, it could be fairly easy to say that often change is a period where you're likely to be more vulnerable. It was on my mind a lot today, this post will just be me examining each of the meanings I came up with.

The Power of Change

I hit an account milestone today. I had a couple posts that got traction last week, today I was able to power up my account. As a result, today is the first time I can vote for someone and see the result of my vote in a real way.
$0.01

I know some have skipped right past this as an entry level point, but the majority of us haven't and most of us won't. It's where our votes will stay for awhile.

I spent the day thinking about my penny vote.

I can use it as a tool to start building my followers by rewarding my upvote/commenters. It allows me to effectively start building my vote swapping buddies and leveraging the power of our combined votes.

OR...

What it also allows me to do, is encourage anyone new. I have done this fairly well without the penny. Often it was just an encouraging comment, letting them know I had liked their work, had followed them and if appropriate a suggestion about what to include next time that might help them.

It allows me to change the experience for them here. No one has come here without the awareness they can get paid for their content, the upvote counter means little when their eyes are on the money meter. I want to award good work because doing so promotes great work, my making that meter visibly nudge a little helps me do that.

This site offers something incredibly powerful, so much so I don't believe it's been fully realized. With the current sampling of users, we should not have close to the quality of content that we do.

One argument is the system rewards bring the talent... my argument is the system rewards drive the desire to self-improve.

It connects us deeper to ourselves, and that spills over to everyone.

Because of how much it has affected areas outside of our lives, it seems natural to me that it begin to spill over into our world.

TheGame

TheGame is an idea. It's a not yet formed answer to the question:

"What happens if we break the window, and let this world out?"

I have no idea...

It makes me wonder though what it must look like to have... not only fun and joy in my life but the desire to create and share that with the others.

What it looks like when a growing number of people begin to do the same.

The other picture was from a post which regretfully I cannot link. I was saving every paper holding image with a project in mind that never happened. Unfortunately I did not think to tag them for my own records when I gathered.

Found It!!! (thanks @thisisbenbrick
