PEOPLE commenting on Articles and the response clearly shows they haven't Read the ARTICLE -

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

Don't you just love when people respond on an article you wrote and their response clearly shows that they haven't read the article? This seems to be happening more and more with the articles I write. I suppose people just respond in mass to articles with the hope of me going to their sites and voting up? I don't know.

What are your thoughts? Has this been happening to you also? Some of the response I must admit are quite humorous. One article I recently wrote about was about possibly "quitting my job". The "quitting my job" part was in the middle of the article. One person responded "good advice, I will follow that". I was just laughing.

Another person responded to one of my articles with a blank image photo of some words with a green back ground. This person said "Really Great Photo". I was really laughing at that one.

Give me some feedback about your comical responses from people. Cheers.

I LOVE STEEMIT.

I couldn't agree more buddy. It's getting stupid and in some cases offensive.
Check this post of mine. Harrowing stuff. Go to the very bottom and check out the comment. What a moron.

It looks like a similar comment I received. Crazy people. cheers.

there are times when you dont even write anything and still someone would comment,Great post!

it happens... all the time

it happens all d time

Could we order a dozen cheese burgers, fries and cokes - please. When should we expect delivery thanks?

Nice. Now following your blog. Cheers.

I also really love the ones where you post a long article or even a 10 minute video and get your first comment in 30 seconds. Thanks but no thanks am I right?!

You are correct.

dont feed spammers.png
.. Steemians (the non bot type) need to stop feeding (paying) them ...they will soon leave ...

Yes. I agree 100%. Cheers mate.

This recipe looks delicious. I'll have to try it.

Just kidding!

It's getting really annoying. I avoided using flags for almost an entire year but last week I broke and started flagging these spammers. I always check to see if they are spamming. Sometimes it's someone who's English isn't good and they are writing very similar comments. It may seem like spam sometimes but they are trying their best to provide a good comment so it's good to check before you flag. But for the real spammers, if you look through their comments section they are getting a few pennies here and there from their comments and they really shouldn't be. It would be great to have a bot with enough power to downvote spam and remove any value they receive from tricking people. I don't want to use my daily votes on flags but it's really starting to happen.

Good advice in checking to see if its their English or if they are a legit spammer. Yes, the recipe is delicious. lol

Yea, there are people using bots to comment on each and every post with the end-goal of achieving upvotes and followers.

I can see that working, but also decreasing your value as an author once recognized. I, myself, choose to not do it.

If you go to the #indroduceyourself tag, you'll see that almost every new post gets some 3-4 comments as soon as they are posted. It clearly shows that there is bot-ing action in there.
Great post, bringing up a relevant topic. Thanks! Followed :)

Yes, I've seen that before as well. 3 or 4 people posting on someones post as soon as it comes out. Must be a bot. Have a good one. I am now following your blog.

It's been happening ever since I started on Steemit but has gotten a lot worse recently.

I can't imagine how many spammers attack you. Level 74. You must be swamped with them. Thanks for the reply thecryptofiend.

Those are cool coins man! Where did you get them?
Wait? Maybe I forgot to read the article... lol.
I get that so much too, its gotta be bots, a lot of the account I notice it on are below 25 reputation

I noticed the reputations too of some of them. You are right. I remember seeing one rep score at 11. Those are cool coins. HA.

Ha ha, so true!

I was looking at some B&W photography in #monochrome (or something) and one reply said: beautiful vibrant colors! Lmao... and another one from the some post said: i've never even seen a live peacock... and there was no pics of peacocks!!!

People are hilarious...

Cheers! from @thedamus -- precious metals guy ;)

That is funny. Very vibrant colorful words. haha.

... bots will give up if people stop paying them, but who pays a bot?

I know what you mean, I joined two days ago and already have several unrelated comments on my posts... the bastards

haha. It only gets better, trust me. lol Following your blog.

Mostly i see comments like " Follow and upvote me" the more sad was when i wrote a post about the linking park singer death and one say " Nice, upvoted" . arghh it was not a nice post at all =(

It is the question about the development and technology combined to rewarding system. If bots can vote, comment.... ETC and if rewards and SP are the only motivation then the outcome cant be much different than it is.

Very true. That's where the flagging system comes into play I suppose.

That is the worst. I just had someone actually ask me to upvote their comment! The ones that are obvious bots I usually flag.

Agree. Maybe we should start writing shorter articles. Resteem and upvote.

Its not happen to me till but yes i seen this kind of comments on others post. In fact one user asked me to read article again after i asking question to him about one part of post. But he don't know answer so he asked me to read again post. Mostly people want back vote so they may be comments just thing which they show in post. They just pick one point and didn't read middle part because they have not time for it lol.

Ive only been here a few days and notice the first 2-3 comments I get after a posts are the same bots.

Yes, I've seen the "Beautiful Photo" reply as I go through posts. This reply was to a post that had only TEXT in images. I suspected that NO READING was done.
Bots are also guilty of this.... Somebody posted an introduction that was sad, relating to a bad story in the news...where the new person was just trying to get the news out.... Some A.I.Idiot posted that ridiculous, "Hey There" gif where the guys whips his head and hair around like a 1970's Shampoo Commercial.

Edit: I had to edit this . . . Here is the link to a (sad) post about Venezuela using the introduction tag....
AND to make it worse, it was not an A.I.Idiot, it was and Actual Idiot! A real user posted a weird "Hey There" gif.
So, you are right, these folks are not reading the posts....

Nice photo challenge. I upvoted, now up vote and follow me. LMAO
Just kidding crowe, couldn't help myself to help demonstrate your point!
I get those types of replies a lot more lately. :)

Funniest one I seen was a guy spamming getting $5-7 per comment from buying upvote from the many serviced and doing a vote 4 vote with other people. He claimed “I dint want make that much money it to much” or along those lines. Ya suuuuuure.

I think for the most part they are just looking to gain an upvote for the comment they left and a follower. I have check in on some of the “spam” that i have seen and they often list country’s where a SBD converted into three local currencies could go a very long way. The sad thing is people upvote them sometimes and even follow. Even more crazy they often times did not even upvote/follow/resteem like they claimed they did. When you call them out on this they have an excess and then they go and spam resteem on last 5 or 10 places they claim they would trying to show “proof.”

They get positive reinforcement for their behaver in a few ways:

  • There are bots that upvote comments at random for using certain “words.”
  • They use applications that reward them for posting.
  • They sometimes pay for voting services near the closing time of their comment to get more money.
  • Quite a few Steemains are so happy that they got a comment on their blog they upvote without thinking “is this spam?”
  • Some contests reward people at random for just replying anything back.
  • People engage in vote 4 vote.
There are certain places where I spend my time engaging in community. When is see these types of people I sometimes call them out and even flag. My flag does very little and it’s more of just gesture. Its very hard to find people who are willing to go after these types of people since they just spam and they only make small amounts here or there per comment. These people are often willing to have a “long” chat on why they are sorry and they “did not understand this was bad” and “I won’t do it again.” I have a feeling some of these people are running bots with multiple accounts and just reply back to any comments they get trying avoid getting flagged.

thanks a lot...that was really informative...

Yes, I also think cucumbers are the hardest vegetables to grow! Upvoted!

;-)

Thanks thinknzombie. I appreciate it. Sure do love cucumbers.

Sorry! Couldn't resist. :-)

"Sounds like a great experience! I guess you might call it traveling with style"

Thats what I got on one of my post regarding a health topic haha

haha. I guess I should start logging all of the out of wack comments and posting them along with the names. Give people a warning who to look out for.

Great idea 😊
