Dredd has got to be one of my all time favorite movies. It is not quite the genera you are looking for, but it is a good portrale of futurism of today.
Part of the reason that I mention it is that Judge Dredd was an 80's film, and it was a good example of 80's futurism.
You do have two films that I would have mentioned in your list with Breakfast Club and Gremlins.

Other good ones would be Ghostbusters, and E.T.

    Good call on Dredd! Honestly I haven't seen that one yet! I have some web work to do tonight so I think I'll check that one out while I work. Thank you!

    Ghostbusters and E.T. are absolute musts as well, good picks! As for my picks, I was a big fan of the Brat Pack. LOL!
