How to embed multiple dtube videos on a steemit post

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello Steemians,

In my first days here on steemit I came across dtube and I like the platform very much. But maybe you have noticed, like me, that it's not easy to embed dtube video in your steemit post. So I decided to create a small tutorial on how to embed multiple videos.

Unfortunately it is currently not possible to embed the videos directly. That's why we will copy the videos as pictures with a link underneath into our post. This requires the following steps:

  1. Open your Submit a Story window on steemit and switch to Editor Mode
  2. Now you can write your story as normal.
  3. Where ever you want to embed a video later on, type a placeholder like VIDEO1, VIDEO2 and so on.
  4. When you are ready with your post, switch to Raw HTML
  5. Now comes the magic. Replace each video placeholder with  <a href='DTUBE_VIDEO_URL'><img src='PICTURE_URL'></a> and change the DTUBE_VIDEO_URL and PICTURE_URL.

The DTUBE_VIDEO_URL you can get on dtube by right clicking on the video and select copy video address.  You can get the PICTURE_URL on dtube, too. Right click on the thumbnail of the video and select copy image address.

So thats it. I hope I could help. If you have further question feel free to ask me.

Let's hope steemit inc. will add the feature to embed dtube video automatically soon.

greetings

Cy

I am still hoping for a new editor. At the moment i am using stackedit.io. You might like it as you're new here ;)

Hehe. Yes thats what I am using, too.

It's a great tool, but i hope for more functionality in the future. Can you build a better editor?

hi there seems to be a broken img link in step 5 and i can't seem to get this embed thing to work for my posts. I just want a embed a dtube to my post. I can't seem to get this to work your help would be appreciated.

Nice, it worked a treat.

Thank you, it was very useful :)

Sorry if this is too retard ... what is placeholder? ---type a placeholder like VIDEO1, VIDEO2 and so on.

a placeholder is just a name you give to something that you intend to change later. In this instance, you're naming them VIDEO1 or VIDEO2 so you know where to put the link later.

Sorry, but seems like I can't find a way to switch to "Raw HTML". Could you make a snapshot or explain how to enable such functionality?
Thank you

I'd like that too.
