Am I doing something right?

Last night, too tired to even be online I merely watched Netflix and crashed. This morning I wake up to find that I garnered ten new followers pushing my follower numbers above the number of those I am following. A minor blip for sure when we consider how some people have followers in the thousands, but for one who has only been at this earnestly for ten days or so, it equates to an increase of around 16% overnight and that, my blockchain friends is a pleasant good morning.

How or why it happened, I do not know for sure. All I can say is, is that I try to post quality posts and when I comment, I try to leave a quality comment and respond to all comments left on my posts. Knowing that my views are somewhat contrarian, I try to present them in a respectful way and equally so, do not expect a large following. I am less about the quantity and more about the quality of my followers and especially of those I follow.

Quality over quantity. There is a tendency among humans to believe bigger is better and has probably been a factor that played into the rise of corporate behemoths whose fingers control the puppet-strings of government and the 'too big to fail' corporate bail-out. With the "bigger is better" attitude, we also saw the centralization of power and authority via the pyramidal structure which is, in my opinion, the greatest threat to a free society. Bigger is better also leads to false paradigms such as seen in award shows where it is believed popularity is a determining factor of quality. This is far from the truth as popularity tends to be because of an appeal to the lowest common denominator. And that too is something I do not want to be a party to.

Running out of time, off to work.

Thanks to all those contributing to Steemit in a meaningful way.
