This is my number 1 most wanted feature for the Steemit condenser UI (DTUBE VERSION)

When it comes to future upgrades, there is one modernization that I want more than any other on Steemit. That my friends is the ability to upload videos straight from the blog/comment edit screen.

My thought process...

We all know how simple it is to upload a photo to a blog on Steemit, as well as the many other available UIs such as PALNet, WeedCash.network, SportsTalk.social, SplinterTalk.io, SteemCoinpan.com (surely more tribes/communities to come soon), just drag and drop the image and it uploads.

I want things to be as simple for videos as it is for photos already. With the ability to drag and drop video files into a blog seamlessly, we could stop having to rely on a the mega corporations so much for video hosting. Yes I know there is #dtube, but as of now I cannot stand for that platform fully due to near-constant irritability. I have never had anything but issues, such as uploads failing or having to log myself in and out. I have grown attached to the strength of the likes of #youtube and #vimeo, despite the fact that I am not given this same affinity in return by those entities.

I know some may say this request of mine is impossible, but I don't believe in that word. There are endless possibilities, especially when you take into consideration all of the talented individuals involved with Steem. I know resources are thin these days, and asking for a video hosting solution right now is a lot. On the other hand, I believe that is what we need to succeed, a little sprucing up. Sure, Steem already has a long list of projects active as of current time. However, I still cannot point to one 100% reliable video hosting option. #threespeak seems great, but many users have yet to be approved as creators (myself included).

Perhaps this doesn't all rely strictly on #steemit themselves, but in the end it will be up to them to implement somebody's video hosting into the blog creation part of the Steemit Condenser. I'm not asking for live-streaming right away, we can use #vimmtv for now. I just desire the ability to upload videos to my blog, doesn't even need to be 4K yet either. As long as I can upload a 5-10 minute video with simplicity.

Watch this video as I give a more in depth talk about this HUGE upgrade that I crave on Steemit.

The song I used for the video is "Brain Boi" by : Liquid Stranger

Comment below if you agree that uploading a video on Steem must be simplified.
Is this even possible early on in the Steem life-cycle?

Don't get me wrong: I like the idea and the ease such a solution would bring. But: it is too expensive.

Just upload your video to YouTube and link it into your steemit blog if you don't wanna use DTube. Steem can not store your videos like YouTube does. It is just too costy.. the whole machinery behind YouTube/Google allows to store that amount of videos. If you would offer the storage and a solution to pay it, sure there will be be a lot of developers who could code that and make a pull request for condenser. The costs are one reason why DTube opened now the gates that you can link YouTube files there without loosing the functionality of dtube. Because storage is expensive.

I don't really get your point because it is obvious that video files need much more storage than a picture. And since you have a pretty high reputation you should know why DTube used ipfs and that there is normally no budget to store video files except if a big company comes and pay a centralised storage.

Just my 2cents :)

Peace!

I know the cost is the reason it hasn't happened already. Otherwise it would have been there from the start I'm sure.

I have been uploading my videos to YouTube, which is fine and works. I know you understand why I wish I didn't have to rely on YouTube. What if I want to talk about something that YouTube doesn't approve of? I do not like being restricted.

As you can see, DTube is still being funky, it just posted the same blog twice.
