the steemit shop

as i understand it , the steemit shop is where you can buy merch using steem backed dollars. that's sounds nice and all , but......
my coins app is showing steem to be at $2.23725 usd and SBD at $11.27550 usd and there is no way in hell that i will pay $153.45 for a coffee mug or over $500.00 for a black hooded sweatshirt.
