The IRS notices on crypto currency currently treats freshly mined currency as real income, taxed in the year it is received, with a basis at whatever the value was when you received it. I take issue with the word "cutthroat". I'm cutting no one's throat. Capitalism isn't about cutting throats or violence.

I know it's just an expression and you didn't mean it literally, but you are putting words in my mouth.

I meant it in the traditional, economic, wall street sense of the word - I didn't mean to imply any kind of physical violence and certainly didn't mean to attribute that meaning to you at all. It was just a turn of phrase
