The problem I have found is that 99 percent of the people I speak to about Bitcoin just give me the thousand yard stare, and I can see immediately that everything I say is going a good few miles above their head. The people who do show an interest are very few and far between.
Now I have known about Steemit for only about a week and really like what I see and have already been trying to get as many people as I can to begin using it.
When I talk to my friends and family about Steemit, they instantly Get It and want to start using it immediately! Discussing with me what they want to post and disappearing off to deeply think about what they want to write about!
So I'm thinking to myself, what the hell is going on here!?
Bitcoin has been around for years, and still, it's extremely difficult to get any engagement from the majority of people I speak to about it, but with Steemit, I haven't even finished my sentence and they are already having a look.
I have found that the difference with Steemit is that people immediately see $$ signs, quite literally! And BOOM, job done.
I have not ever known anything like this, ever. I cannot believe how easy it is to get people to start using Steemit.
So what was the one thing I did't do when promoting Steemit to friends & Family?
I didn't mention Bitcoin or Crypto Currency once, not even a hint.
The beauty of this is that thousands of new users of the Steem community are using crypto currency and they do not even know it! But they will, and this is great because it shows new users of Steemit the REAL value of crypto currencies such as Steem and Bitcoin.
Genius.
Agreed. To get people use a tech, they need not to know about the tech, it's not a value proposition by itself.
Steemit, to me, is the first blockchain app that could go to the mass. People don't have to understand what a blockchain is. They can be sold a simple idea: "reddit where you earn real money when people like what you write". This is powerful. They will wonder about blockchain later.
