Hello everyone, how are you all doing? First of all, I must say I am happy to almost reaching 300 Followers on Steemit and over 40 members now in my Discord. Once I reach 100+ members on my Discord, I plan to do a STEEM DOLLAR GIVEAWAY so I hope you all can look forward to that. Any ideas for this giveaway will be welcome! :)
For those who have not joined my Discord yet, check it out since we are a growing community trying to help newbies and current users struggling to get attention to promote better their steemit page so the community there will be more likely to check your stuff out. Here is the Steemit Discord Link: https://discord.gg/WmxRnc3
Now for my worries about this thing long term... its not really the fact that the value of STEEM has been dipping more than 50% because if the platform continues to do well, eventually it will regain its value.
Its mainly cause Bitcoin's been losing value. I am mainly worried about something that I myself do not really understand about steemit. Its the fact that at the time of this writing, I have 288 Followers and whenever I post a new blog, pass a few hours and unless I am promoting the post in other platforms as well as my Steemit Promo Server I made and other steemit related Discord Servers I am in, on Twitter and Facebook Steemit Groups, I still would be lucky if I reach 20-30 views and 2-3 comments.
I sometimes I ask myself these questions whenever it happens:
Does my content really sucks with little to no value? Or perhaps none of the followers are ever notified whenever I post a new Steemit blog? That the only way my followers can know if I posted a new blog if they manually go to the steemit feed section and see who posted.
Also I noticed that many steemians are following HUNDREDS to THOUSANDS of other users that most likely they only check like 0.2% of all their posts. I admit I am guilty at this as well but I am planning to unfollow a lot of unactive users or users that does not post anything that is of value to me and only follow people who I truly care about or post content that I care about!
I encourage you all to do the same because the last thing we all want is a flood of posts on our feed that we do not really care much about in the long term. And that I believe is one of the biggest issue with the followers system on Steemit now.
Its like the subscribers system on YouTube. I bet you would feel really bad if you had like 10,000 subs and less than 100 views in each videos. You would wonder whats going on and why did they subbed to me in the first place... I hope this post gets noticed by someone here because I am here asking for help with solutions so I can learn and then help others as well.
IMAGINE... I GET 300 FOLLOWERS, MAKE A POST AND ONLY GET LIKE 10-15 VIEWS AND 1-2 COMMENTS AND UPVOTES... HOW WOULD THAT MAKE YOU FEEL? THAT THE NUMBER OF FOLLOWERS YOU HAVE ARE MEANINGLESS?!!
I just wanted to get that off my chest and understand where I am coming from. I complained about the fact that steemit needs a better notification system so people will know more conveniently whenever I post new blogs and the number of people who will notice my post and yours as well will greatly increase! Steemit needs to fix this some how! :P
I love Steemit but there must be better ways out there to make the followers system work in a more meaningful way. Because even if you post something very valuable and have 1000 followers, if they do not noticed that you posted a blog, its like if it does not even exist...
That's all I have to say about this issue. Upvote this post if you find this informative, please resteem to raise awareness of this.. I BEG YOU AND WILL APPRECIATE IT! and comment below your thoughts on this matter. Until next blog post, take care, God Bless and stay cool! :)
Yeah I agree there I noticed that too and with myself aswell indeed there needs to be a notification system. I follow only a handful of people and there are many blogs or posts that I miss too due to not being notified or them being buried in the feed. So I agree there also your blog posts do not suck they are really great and they deserve as much attention as possible but gotta keep pushing forward you will overcome this bump in the road soon enough. Also congrats on the following you have gained here I am happy for you buddy.

Thanks a lot for your support man. And yeah, there are sure a lot of great post I bet I missed because of the many blogs accumulating in the news feed and many I follow that posts crap or not being active. Like YouTube, a notification bell option to use notification on your most favorite steemians works well.

Yes a notification feature similar to how youtube does here would be greatly useful I would like to see something like that in the future I have a feeling in due time they will do something for that.

I am relatively new here, so I have not noticed it yet but this is really a serious problem which you address there. I'm trying to promote my posts where they have the biggest impact on the topic im writing about. For example, if I write something about bushcraft, I promote the post on a discord server where many bushcraf people are.

That's not a bad idea man, depending on the topic you talk about, you find a way to promote it on a related Discord server. Only thing is I doubt many of these communities has a Steemit account but maybe some people may be curious to find out more about what is steemit.

Yeah, I totally understand the feeling. I think there are several reasons that might explain this. First of all, I recommend you use this site to see who REALLY follows you: http://steemit.deadfollowers.info/. Then, well, I think maybe sometimes we are being followed by bots, it could be a flaw in the platform. And finally, well I think that many steemit members don't take the time to read articles and curate them. They just go and post, that is the only thing that interests them, for whatever reason. Don't give up!

Yeah... for the people that just goes on steemit to post random stuff that has little to no value... I dunno why they are on steemit... just for money I guess :P Cause I have seen several crappy pointless posts here lately :P Thanks for your support, Jessica! :)

Think 75 percent are on here for money. There is a lot of crap getting upvotes. Just seems wrong. Someone posts something new up and within 5 minutes has 60 votes and $100. There may be a few genuine ones but majority don't care as long as they are making money.

Yeah, well, unfortunately, there are a lot of shit posts and it is hard to avoid them on a platform like this. However, I think there are some members helping out and flagging shit posts from time to time. As for the money, well, it's human nature and there will always be greedy people. I think we should just focus on community building on Steemit and less on the money. Everyone likes making some bucks, nothing wrong with that, but I believe it shouldn't be the main focus here.

Yeah I agree, I want to focus on building my community first above anything else. What I earn here is almost nothing so far at this time so the interaction with people here should go first and has a lot more value long term too than just being a sell out on steemit! :)

Great post denox and you really hit the hammer on the head with this one. Indeed followers are pretty meaningless on Steemit as most of those followers will not read your posts or are just simply inactive. They might have been active users for a few days/weeks but a lot of bloggers/writers quit Steemit sometimes, I am also guilty of this since I started working and don't have the same free time as I used to have.
Great suggestion of unfollowing people that don't bring valuable content and bloggers on which posts you wouldn't actually comment or even read them. It has no value for yourself to follow them but also no value for the blogger since you will not be paying attention to their posts.
Besides this I think Steemit, together with all other crypto related fora are not experiencing the best of times since the cryptocurrencies are only going down for quite a while now. When we recover from this crazy annoying bear market, the interest in Steemit will probably rise again and more people will become active readers/bloggers again, this last paragraph is just my opinion though and I'm not entirely sure this is the case but I think so :)
Steem-on Denox, you deserve more upvotes/comments for your posts. But on Steemit quality does not necessarily lead to success... Steemit still has a long way to go to becoming an advanced blogging forum on which the good writers get what they actually deserve!

Yeah man... the bear market is super annoying at this point lasting for pretty much almost 3 whole months and I think its almost time for the big investors to take some price action. How low do they want the coins to be before they go bullish on this? And yeah, I will continue to unfollow all unactive users and good that you do the same so only good content appears on your feed :)
