A few weeks ago I made a post about piracy on Steemit and why I think it is a growing problem that needs to be dealt with, and hopefully soon.
Here is a link to my original post: https://steemit.com/technology/@devi1714/piracy-on-steemit-a-rising-problem
If you want a detailed explanation, please read that post. However, in short, piracy and stealing of other's content is becoming a big problem.
Maybe others don't agree with my view, but I think that stealing and monetising the content of others is unacceptable, and it is becoming very widespread. If you want to see what I mean, just check the 'movies' or 'music' tags.
Everyone of these posts involves trailers taken from other sites and creators. Steemit is accepting of this, it is a platform that is welcoming to these types of people... They make money off it.
Some people have profiles that seem to purely upload music videos. I don't want to point fingers, but I feel like I have to here. If you search under the 'music' tag, you will find hundreds of music videos taken from sites such as Youtube. I found this user within 30 seconds of searching.

None of that content was created or made by this person, they are simply re-uploading the content of others and making money off of it.
Steemit is full of anti-spam groups (I have also made lots of posts on that), yet none of the target these people who are stealing content. If they did, why do users like this, who upload seemingly only others content, still exist?
I don't know if other people agree with me, but I think this is a growing problem and one we should try and combat. I don't exactly know the steps to take to create such a group, or if one already exists, but I do think we need one.
I would love to hear other people's thoughts, so please let me know what you think! Thanks for reading :)
