Want To Be A Steemillionaire? Here Are The Crucial Things To Do For Newbies on Steemit

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

How To Become a Steemillionaire

I have only been on Steemit for less than a week and have already made over $30,000. But, as I pointed out in my last article, the great majority of that success on Steemit has come from decades of work and being a well known writer (who knows how to write things that people will want to read) and a large worldwide following.

I've since seen thousands of people joining Steemit after hearing my story with the expectation that they'll make a fortune from just one post... and then I've seen dozens of people posting that they didn't make anything and are disillusioned.

I've asked a few of them to send me their post... and when I see their post I immediately see why it received no traction.

For that reason, I am writing a list of tips I have learned in my short time on the site to improve your post earnings. And many of these are tips that I have learned over 20 years in the internet publishing industry:

1. IMAGES

I recently spoke to a whale whisperer. A whale is someone with a lot of Steem Power (a person who can make your post go from a dark alley to the shining lights on Broadway). I call him a "whisperer" because he is not a whale but is what they call a "curator" and he directly communicates with many whales trying to let them know which post deserves their attention.

He told me that a post with no images will likely get passed over unless it is written by Kanye West, himself. You know, Yeezy... he's the best... or so he always says.

Steemit is still in beta and so functionality is still fairly lacking, although they seem to improve it daily. There isn't even a "preview" option before putting up your post. So you should spend some time researching how to use the "Submit a Story" feature.

I've personally had numerous problems figuring out how to post images properly. But, I think I've got a short term solution until functionality improves.

Images are NOT uploaded directly onto the blockchain (probably to conserve space), so you need to upload your image somewhere else first.

For now I've been uploading images to https://postimg.org. Once uploaded, copy the text in the "Hotlink for Website" field and paste it into your post (if anyone has a link to a better image tutorial please place in comments below).

[EDIT: @cryptoctopus a Steem veteran says Steemimg.com is the best place]

Take time to figure out how to nicely add images to your post and choose images that add to the story, not just for decoration. And, even better, create your own custom images that directly relate to your article.

If you have no images in your post, don't expect it to do well.

2. FORMATTING

One person complained that their post got $0 and I asked to see the post. It was one big long paragraph of scrawling text that went on for pages like it was the Dead Sea Scrolls or something. It didn't even have a paragraph break! I almost had a seizure looking at it!

Posting something like that to Steemit and complaining nobody liked it is like going to an art museum and throwing a box of crayons on the floor and then being upset that no one (except super avante garde people who will think it is genius) liked it.

Notice how my post is quite easy to read? Notice how the paragraphs aren't massive and won't scare you from even wanting to read it?

Ya, do that.

3. BUILD YOUR AUDIENCE

Many people come to Steemit and don't know anyone here. They haven't been on the site for a period of time and have cultivated a following or even posted good comments to other's articles to gain exposure.

And then they post and no one sees it and they get sad.

This, again, is like deciding you want to unveil your new sculpture, walking out into the desert and unveiling it and being shocked no one saw it.

Just like anything, you have to cultivate a following.

And the best way to do that is to use your other social media to tell all your friends, family and followers that you are now on Steemit and ask them to come over and join you and upvote your posts.

And, if you are already on Facebook, and only have 50 friends, and when you post on Facebook you get 2 likes, why would you think it'd be any different here?

4. WRITE SOMETHING INTERESTING

If you write a post entitled, "I Painted My Fence This Weekend" and it, literally, just tells of how you painted your fence this weekend...... why would you expect anyone to care?

Now, if you were painting your fence and you nearly electrocuted yourself and you realized life is precious and it changed you... there you go!

Nearly everyone has some interesting stories. And, if you don't, you should really get out there in the world and do something interesting. Really.

Girls won't even like you if you have never done anything but get a high score once on Halo 5.

5. CONSISTENCY

I began writing The Dollar Vigilante in 2010. My first blog post was seen by NO ONE. The next few were basically the same. But after a few weeks of writing daily it began to slowly grow. I remember saying once, in late 2010, to my wife, "Wow, 15 people subscribed to my blog today!"

Now, after six years of writing EVERY DAY, hundreds of thousands see each blog. And now, those 15 people per day who signed up to my free blog are 15+ per day who sign up to our paid service.

It was a slog for years but I knew I had something important to say and I knew eventually people would catch on.

It did and now The Dollar Vigilante is the fastest growing financial newsletter in the world and, when I come on Steemit, I get instant traction.

6. WHY YOU SHOULD BE ON STEEMIT EVEN IF YOU CAN'T WRITE AND HAVE NO FRIENDS

If you've never written so much as a blog post and don't have the aptitude for it then you probably will never make a lot of money on Steemit. You may make money in other ways, by upvoting good posts as a curator. Or making good, added value comments on other people's posts.

However, that still should not keep you off of Steemit.

Steemit has the potential to absolutely revolutionize social media. I will be making a future post about all its potential.

But, let's just say that of all the people I have introduced to Steemit so far, the most common comment is, "I don't see any reason to even go on Facebook anymore."

And we are still VERY early. Hardly anyone even knows about it yet... but they will!

Once people on Facebook and Twitter find out they can do the exact same thing they are doing there AND make money doing it (as opposed to FB and Twitter making all the revenue from their following), EVERYONE will be here.

I give it 6 months before this place is massive. I even think at some point Facebook will have to adapt and pay users for popular posts or die.

And you can be here before 99.9999% of others, already understand how it works and already be doing all the right things to increase your Steem and Steem Power so when the site gets really big you will profit even more.

And, not to mention, Steemit is virtually censorship proof. That's why we've seen so many liberty activists move here already. They've been shut down on Twitter (Milo Yiannopolous), on Facebook (@lukewearechange) and Google Ads has made it so places like antiwar.com cannot generate revenue from their large following.

At the very least, you can say, 1-2 years from now, when Steemit is bigger than Facebook and Twitter, "I was one of the first there."

CONCLUSION

If you follow the simple tips above you should generate some good income from your work over time.

And, if you REALLY want to improve your chances, spend time researching every facet of how Steemit works. I've been doing it for days and it is incredibly interesting... but you'll have to spend a lot of time and effort to do so.

Nothing in life comes easy. Barry Bonds didn't just do a gargantuan amount of steroids one day and all of a sudden he was knocking balls out of the park while people threw money at him. He spent days, weeks, months and years of working on it... and doing a gargantuan amount of steroids.

Steemit has given us all a gift. It has created a platform whereby, if we work hard and hone our skills, we can make money from our efforts here.

But if you post a 3 page article with no paragraphs and no pictures about how you painted your fence and told none of your friends about it and didn't promote it on your other social media platforms and you got $0... you now know what to do.

At least put up a picture of the fence!

Started from the bottom, now we here (with 21 followers! Woop woop!) I'm in the for the long haul, my Mexi-Canadian friend. Whether I make a bajillion Steembucks or not, this site has given me incentive to do to things:

  1. WRITE MORE! When I was young, in my pre-high school era, I would write all the time. In fact, I would usually write instead of doing my homework (unless my homework was writing.) It wasn't the best, but it was good for my age, and I even had teachers who wanted to help me refine my talent. Unfortunately, shit happened after that, and it just dragged me into an abyss of being the child of a single, mentally ill mother in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, Maine, and I lost that drive to keep putting pen to paper.

Here with Steemit, though, I have an avenue to get that practice in, and potentially reach the levels that I had for so long thought were now impossible to reach.

  1. Help spread the message of voluntaryism, and help other voluntaryists here do the same! I'm telling you, this place is going to make Facebook obsolete for us - at least as anything more than a place for us to promote our Steemit articles.

So whether I strike it immediately rich, or if I must endure that long haul, I'm in it to win it, baby!

@seanobi now you have 22 followers and an extra upvote! I like your attitude and what you have to say.
i do think anarchy and voluntaryist are dead end philopshies. But as I say so frequently I may not like what you say, but I'll listen to what you have to say and point out where I think you're right and where I think you're wrong. Only thing I ask is that you return the favor.

And I just added around $12 to your comment because of your attitude. Writing can be a cathartic thing, so I am all for that. You being excited about this will lead to other being excited too. I'll be following you. Thanks.

I feel the same way. Facebook doesn't exactly let me write freely. I'd rather have an unregulated huge market than only my friends judging what I write. I am loving steemit.

Wow, thanks for all the support, folks! I totally stand by my statement. Whether Steemit makes me a millionaire or just leaves me as another frustrated comedy writer, I'd rather work hard at it and see where it takes me instead of giving up.

I've spent a lot of time on this platform the last 3+ months, put a lot of effort in, and just got to know a few of the regulars. I'm not a professional writer, nor have I been writing for an audience for very long, but Steemit is making me better at it. I'm starting to notice that the time and effort is paying off, and it's nice. Real nice.

You're right, we're all early adopters here. There's so much room for growth, and we get to build our reputations and following now before the masses arrive!

Now, brb — going to electrocute myself so that I can make a post about it.

Electrocution sounds awesome! Be sure to post a video of it, or at least have enough pictures to really capture the scene and the pain. And don't forget to add a few links in the story, maybe even encourage your followers to follow other Steemit contributors (like me?).

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

this is the truth right here for me

HELLO! I just joined today. I think if you write about things that are important to YOU, others will find it useful. Don't write things to make money, write to help the community. Good luck!

I had some trouble getting it working... I'll try again, thanks!

I've been using this one since it's super fast and simple.... and the first to pop up on a quick google search.
Works every time.

https://imgsafe.org/

I use this one but it turns my photos to the side for some reason...

I use https://imgsafe.org myself. I usually edit my photos using Microsoft Office Picture Manager BEFORE uploading it. Try this. It works for me all the time.

Thanks to @cryptoctopus, I am also in https://www.steemimg.com. I am currently exploring. I see a great future for STEEM.

Also something really helpful are the different tags you can put around images and text. This has been covered in other posts, but searching for them is not the easiest way to find content.

Some of the important tags are as follows (this will be familiar to those who use html, but easy to use for those who don't)

There are multiple ways to format your text. I'll use the raw html feature (click editor in submit a story, type a letter and then click raw html)

The following tags are helpful
all tags use the <tagname'> text or image url </tagname'> format (without 'S)
<h1'> tags is the makes a title text larger and can be followed by h2 etc all the way down to h6

I'm an H1

<center'> tags can beused to center tex or pictures and used along with other tags

I'm a center H4

<blockquote'> text </blockquote'>

This is a quote

And the little // designs in the square at the bottom right of a textbox (comment or posts, lets you click and drag to make the textbox larger).

There's more, but for the new people flocking to see @dollarvigilante post, hopefully this is helpful (and to html coders this should already make sense) I'm @bendjmiller222 on steemit chat if I can help anyone else more :)

Thanks again for the tips @dollarvigilante. I listen to your podcasts as soon as they come out!

Great tips!

But it would be great if Steemit made some more userfreindly WYSIWYG editor tools. After all - its a blog where we share our thoughts or talents - and should be able to do so without having to remember html code :-)

@blueorgy made it and he rules b t way!

Hi @dollargivilante Seems like your post attracted some criticism. I made this post specially in response of critics against you. Check it out: https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemist/in-response-of-critics-against-dollarvigilante-made-by-steve-walschot-and-the-truth-behind-all-the-story-both-sides-are-covered

Try tinypic.com. It's the only one that seems to work every time.

There's probably a bug in the editor as well, when trying to integrate the image in the post. It's not always the site's fault. But hey, we didn't even have an editor like 1-2 months ago, so, I guess it'll be fixed at some point. The site is still beta anyway.

Thanks for sharing @dollarvigilante

Yup awesome place for images, great tool use it instead.

I would recommend IPFS pics - https://ipfs.pics - IPFS is a permanent decentralized file hosting protocol in the same spirit of Steemit and decentralized cryptocurrencies (more info: http://ipfs.io ). IPFS cannot censor/modify/delete your image - the image is permanently stored on the web. The URL you get for image you upload corresponds to a cryptographic checksum of the image file, so it's cryptographically verifiable that the image you uploaded is also shown to the viewers of your post. Normal image hosting services could censor, delete or modify your image, or just go offline or out of business. With IPFS this just cannot happen. :) It is as exiciting as SteemIt :D

Do the images stay at steemimg.com forever?

I need to invite all my facebook friends to follow me on Steemit!

That's the one I use - far surpasses the other sites.

Another great site to upload your photos------> https://postimage.org/

Hi dollarvigilante, today I am really disappointed, I am from Mexico and I think I am one of the few people on Steemit from Mexico and the only one that is trying to contribute on the growth of this platform, couple of hours ago I shared my story on how I started using my Uber to promote this wonderful platform, now I am looking at your recommendations and I think I followed all of them, and personally I don't care about the money I just thought my big effort to promote the platform would be apprecieted and that I would have gotten at least some comments :(
This is my post: https://steemit.com/steemit/@oumar/first-uber-spreading-the-word-about-steemit

Why nobody valued what I thought was an incredible contribution to the platform? :(

Why nobody valued what I thought was an incredible contribution to the platform?

Mostly because we didn't see it. If you want to earn on this platform and you aren't a celebrity with a following, you need to get out there and tell people about yourself. Get on steemit.chat and network. Reach out to the more successful bloggers and see if you can get them to mention you. Get your existing network to join and vote up your stuff. There are some people doing daily "Best of Steemit" posts which feature new personalities and content; try to get listed in one or more of those.

Getting out and doing promotional work is great, and writing good quality posts is great too. But neither of those will get you rewards if no one knows about it. TDV is great at self-promotion, and while self-promotion can become annoying and turn people off if it is excessive and if there isn't substance behind it, in the right quantity it is an essential part of being successful at almost anything.

EDIT: and positivity as other stated. Can't emphasize that enough.

I appreciate this message, @smooth.

I'm the "20 questions" interview guy (my blog); you've up-voted a few of my past interviews.

Last week, I sent you a message, letting you know I had released a new interview. After sending it, I sat and thought about it, and five minutes later I deleted that message to you. My thought was: I don't want to be that individual who begs for up-votes from high-earners. On the other side of the coin, the real reason I was sending you the message is because I genuinely thought you might want to know that this article was posted, as you seemed to have enjoyed a couple of them in the past. The other benefit of your up-votes is that more people tend to see my content... which, to be honest, is also incredibly rewarding.

It's nice to see your advice is to self-promote without being annoying.

Edit: By the way... I've got an exciting 20 questions coming out tomorrow morning. Just sayin...

Thanks a lot for all this recommendations @smooth, I really really appreciate it, and I hope I can get people to know about myself. Again thanks a lot for this tips and for your upvote!

Hey Oumar, I am from Mexico too and Guess what? I am new to this platform too. Today is my first day and I am not even expecting you to replay to my comment, however let me tell you that Jeff has been active for years now and his work is now being rewarded. I invite you to keep working without expecting anything and you will see that the rewards will come by themselves. I just start today and will stop when I fucking die.

Hi! glad to meet you, why wouldn't I reply to your comment hehe, I do know Jeff has been working for years and as he said keep working without expecting anything but also as I said I didn't care about the money just wanted people to notice I am contributing to Steemit here in Mexico :D Saludos!

Venga a Anarchapulco (http://anarchapulco.com) amigos!

I'll try to go Jeff! There is still time to plan ;)

This is how you could have expressed the same information, just with a different mindset:

Hi @dollarvigilante, today I made a post where I tried to apply all your recommendations:
https://steemit.com/steemit/@oumar/first-uber-spreading-the-word-about-steemit
Let's see how it works!

This was a perfect chance to promote your post and you just blew it.

Anyway, your post is quite good and the idea of promoting Steem in your Uber car is brillant. So don't give up. If you want to follow all of @dollarvigilante 's recommendations, stick to this one as well:

CONSISTENCY

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

you are right :( , I appreciate you upvoted my post inspite this. And yes, I'll be consistent, I'll continue with my effort on promoting Steemit on Mexico!

@innuendo is right @oumar, post with positivity, not negativity... it works wonders. I did check out your post though and it is really cool what you did! Upvoted!

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

Sure Jeff, I'll try to keep myself positive! Thanks a lot for your upvote! :D

I upvoted as well because it's a good post and because I want to encourage positivity over negativity. I also like the idea of someone trying to develop a steemit community in another country. Good luck!

Many post's get rewarded after a couple of days! You never know when a post of you will catch up!

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

I find people are ignoring the potential rewards of commenting on submissions they like. If you are not a great writer, get out there and interact with the community. You will be surprised at the success you will have.

Edit. I'm giving away another $50 Steam card. There's a couple hours left. You don't need to upvote. It's just for fun. Follow the linky my fellow minnows: https://steemit.com/steemit/@cryptobarry/i-am-giving-away-another-usd50-cdn-steam-card-on-steemit-pick-a-number-from-1-1000

Hi Barry, great advice, but i dont think that only commenting or interacting will buy you anything.
I am a newbie here on Steemit, but i dont think that a bad writer can make a lot through comments

This is what i learned in 30 days of Steemit.

1.) Timing (be the first , you will maybe get a great reward, yeah so maybe you will be lucky)
2.) Where are you posting (Location, Location, Location, same for postings. Only if you post where a whale comes in and votes, or 200 dolpines going to vote you, you are really making money on a comment, so on 90% of the posts you wont earn 0 on comments)
3.) Right words ( if 1 and 2 were not difficult enough, you have to find the right tone and wording to please a whale with your comment)

So my theorie is that, you have to be a very good writer to hit a home-run comment. if not you might be able to get 5-20$ once in a while, but that's it!

my 2 cents !

Don't forget guys that from curating you get MUCH more rewards if you have more Steem Power !!!

Oh you don't, go look at my wallet. The majority is from 4 comments.😛

Edit. Oh wait I got you. Yeah you might be right.

My best post was for Steemdown a tool by @ bitcoiner. He made a great tool to track whales power down and had $4 after 5 hours. I took a screen shot of his ap, added some obvious takeaways and then Linked to his post. I made a buck and he made a grand but it was pretty easy on my part. Maybe 5 minutes.

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

Indeed! I find the comment sections some times to be even more interesting than the original post.
But its important to find your own community of the things you like and know about, and comment on stuff that really interest you, doesn't matter if you ask questions, give compliments or just have a debate about a matter. As long as its relevant contribution to the blogpost, its all good!

Also don't get discouraged after not receiving many votes and trying for a week, it will come in time. The community is growing all the time and making connections is as important now as it will always be.

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

You shouldn't see it as just a random group of people following random accounts just to vote because you are part of it. That's not the right way to think about this platform, in my opinion.

Just connect with the people/tags you are interested in yourself and it will all come naturally over time. More people are joining every day, you are sure to make connections that you can relate with instead of just random groups blindly giving their votes to their own group of authors.

I hope you understand my viewpoint. I don't like voting on something just cause all others are voting on it because of a reason other than the content quality.

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

Exactly learned that from the Steemit queen @stellabelle

I fucking love all your success here good job brother you truly deserve it disregard the damn haters. You built your self to become a crypto God!!!! Wish I was a crypto God maybe some day. Out of the ashes a Steemit Phoenix arises!

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

I have made far more commenting that posting. ( but actually he most from voting and from the steady increase of Steem power. ) Even so it's fun to be in he community, shape how it grows by making suggestions and rooting it in when they get someone like dollar vigilante. I would probably posts more if I hadn't used my real name to sign up (keep that in mind newbies)

Denny I have made an amazing business online using one thing, my personal brand. I promise that I will be sharing all of my marketing and social media secrets here on Steemit to help the community flourish. Don´t be afraid to let your personal brand shine. I bet you have plenty of value to add to the community.

I do agree Rome wasn't build in one day, so yes people can learn great skills of mixing with others, and communicating., networking, spreading happiness and knowledge :)

I try to comment when I can. I think people also have to be more willing to follow others, because it's a little hard to filter through all of the new posts, especially with a quickly growing community. If you find someone you like, follow them!

On that note - follow me! I have some exciting plans with the platform. Check out my latest post and help make a difference in lots of lives.

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

You got it.

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

Very few comments ever make anything and if they do they do it is such a small amount the reward vanishes at payout.

Totally agreed.

Cool -- I'm so there.

Of all the features of Steemit, I think the idea of commenting and curation rewards are among the coolest things I haven't seen elsewhere.

I am down voting this because this is nothing but common sense that has been posted COUNTLESS times on this site. Time for a new plan. This won't work any longer.

Please rethink using the downvote in this manner. It sets quite a bad precedent. There's nothing offensive or objectionable in this post, even if you disagree with it 100%. And by the standard you are setting here, MANY other posts should be downvoted for the very same reason.

But the fact is that posts have a shelf life and ideas are going to get recycled. At the very least, new people to the platform are going to have their own take on things. Not to mention, it's understandable and expected that people will want to personally present this kind of information on their own blog to their own audience.

We should be encouraging that. Instead we're downvoting him while encouraging others to not only bash him but also to have an entitlement mentality and complain about their own lack of success on the platform? Why would we do such a thing? Are we trying to shoot ourselves in the foot here?

This is exactly what I'm thinking. Doesn't look very good that voting power is used in this way. It makes people want to go and check if its Ok to post about something posted yesterday, even a a week ago.

I thought this is what we were trying to get away from. Guess I was wrong.

The problem with the spreading of flagging abuse is a problem with the platform as it stands now (in Beta). Flagging content is essentially accusing the poster of breaking community rules and social consensus. Just like in the legal process the accuser and accusations should be prominent and clear, and for a social network like this one, it should also be extremely efficient.. My recommendations reiteration from an earlier post is 1) clearly post the social consensus (rules) on the menu bar 2) Add additional functionality to the Flagging feature which will provide username and the particular violation selected from an imbedded list. Doing this will avoid the flag abuse that is beginning to run rampant

No not at all. You can get downvoted simply for making too much money on a post if a whale decides. The curator whales decide the value of a post with or against the preferences of the community, not because I agree with the whales doing this but merely because it's an observational statement that if they have the power to do it then it's allowed. No sense in complaining about something they are allowed to do in this instance unless we will complain about it in all instances.

Refereces
https://steemd.com/crypto-news/@dana-edwards/attention-based-stigmergic-distributed-collaborative-organizations

@dana-edwards: The purpose of voting is not for any individual (including a whale curator, which I happen to be) to decide the value of a post. That's what the rewards algorithm is for.

The job of a curator is to indicate whether or not they like a post (upvote) or whether they believe a post is offensive, constitutes spam, is plagiarism, violates copyright laws, etc (in which case they should flag it).

Yes, they are "allowed" to flag a post for any reason. But that doesn't mean they are using it as it was intended, or that misusing it is in the best interest of the platform. In fact, it is not. And if they keep doing it, what we're going to start seeing a lot more of is a) downvote wars and b) cries of censorship.

I'm going to do what I can to stop that from happening.

I in fact have been making an issue of this problem, long before the incident with TDV. you can browse through my posts. Also, most of the other times I've called this out have not been whales doing the violation, but others. However the incident with TDV helped me to understand one thing: The rules are not clear. That, or my original assumptions are wrong (i don't think this is the case). You are correct that currently the whales (or anyone for that matter) can flag for any reason. My thinking is that it is an inadvertent gap in the programing. I understand that you believe it is purposely built this way. I guess we will see.

@tombstone I 100% agree.

I agree in your reply here. And the mechanism of flag (downvote) and whale (over-aggregated steempower) is creating a risk of abusive censorship - no matter what their position is.

Remember when my post was downvoted because a whale thought it was making too much money? Right, who cares.

If whales are going to downvote for arbitrary reasons then they have the power to do it. The only thing any of us can do is outline the reasons we will downvote in advance so that the reasons aren't arbitrary. I've outlined my curation criteria but I'm not a whale.

The precedent has been set already only because now it is happening to someone high profile it's blatantly obvious.

Just because the precedent has been set doesn't mean it should continue. It's bad for the platform and it should stop. I first brought this up 3 months ago.

There are no down votes in Steemit, only up votes and flagging. Flags are used for a very specific reason and that is denoting the breaking of community rules and social consensus, not a dislike of subject matter.

Yeah... but in reality it is used many times to redistribute the share of total rewards between posts... It is their right to use their voting power to do it... it is their investment... and if they want to protect it like this, they have all the rights to do it...

If one post gets smashed by a whale downvote, all the rest of posts instantly earn more money... could be your post earning more money.

The answer here ( assuming over valued posts is a problem) is to educate the market. They will do what is in their best interest. I the market perceives that things are too unfair, though actions like the one in question, they will eventually create compassion. Not to the whales best interest. Most of the whales understand that. Before you came the whales had a very pretty empty shell which produced zero.

I don't know, if I don't like a post I just ignore it, being negative isn't going to take us anywhere.

For the record, I think this is a bad reason to down vote a post.

Thats exactly what I though right after his 2nd post, this guy is about to abuse the fame people are associating to his name. Thank you bernie for being real!

Loading...

@berniesanders Upvoted you because you took a stand you believe in, whale or minnow standing up for what you believe deserves my vote for whatever it's worth.

But forget who the poster is outside of steemit and consider that this post is a change for this person in general. A person with massive appeal and a large fanbase both on and off the platform. It shows he is trying to listen to people and restate what he's learned by teaching. This posting I think was meant for the followers he's brought over since he was the first of his social group here.

To my mind that makes this post worth an upvote, because it shows rapid personal growth and a desire to teach his rapidly expanding social circle. And before anyone even thinks of downvoting me or calling me a sycophant for saying that, read the rest of my posts and comments regarding this posting.

Anyways @berniesanders steemit needs a meta site for FAQ and best practice tips, the lack of that is why you keep seeing this topic come up. Literally new comers have no way of knowing this stuff.

I like the idea of a FAQ to help everyone know what the basic rules are and best practice tips!

It is sorely missing. I've been preaching about this for quite a while. (See my other post on this blog.) I hope it comes soon.

Thanks. Was feeling like I was being surrounded by people playing the don't.

Remind me to never piss you off...

This was wrong to do. Doesnt look good to the average user coming here to post ideas and express themselves. I dont know, just dont feel good about this.

This is still original content. Flags are for spam, plagiarism or fraud, or hate speech (trolls). Your comment and a lack of vote is the most productive and effective thing you can do.

Thank you !

Can't keep going back to the same well. Thanks for standing for something.

@berniesanders

Is there a way to contact you or other people directly? If so, how does one do that?

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

Please don't spam like this. I almost flagging you which would seriously trash your rep, but I didn't for that reason. But flagging your comment as spam would be totally justified. Don't put yourself in the crosshair.

Bravo Bernie. This crap reads like a giant infomercial.

i'm real newbie here and looking for something to entice and inspire me. The same information in this seed might be out there and available with some searching but this was the first one I encountered that seemed to try to explain steemit to me. I'm sure I will look for other posts that can help but I have to see this one as a boon to me and not a horrendous repetitive yawnfest you seem to think it is.
And I am not one of his fans coming over from another social network..... But I saw it on my FB feed..

@dollarvigilante you can put your money where your mouth is by becoming a supporter to this campaign. At least give something back to the community... aren't 30,000$ enought to make you support this campaign?

I've tweeted directly to you and other "celebrities" and still no feedback from any. It's funny when it's all fun when you're receiving, but about giving?

Hi there @dollarvigilante! Very concise write-up on the things that is within one's control :)

To augment this article, I'm gonna throw in this link (an old post of mine) for creative writing: https://steemit.com/writing/@kevinwong/my-grandfather-s-guidelines-for-creative-writing

Hope you enjoy it as well!

??? I lost you on this one Kevin .

I want to be a steemillionaire , upvote to the moon lol :)

I agree with all your steps, but I think you forgot an important factor. You probably saw that most of the posters on here got near to 0$ with their first posts. Once they posted a decent amount of posts on a certain schedule they start to get noticed by the whales, dolphins and minions.

I'd personally give people the advice to post daily if possible. Take care! Don't forget:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Excellent point! I should almost edit and add it... hmmm maybe I will, check in a few minutes, thanks!

Awesome! :) Maybe also add that most users who have a lot of SP, have a lot of SP for a reason. They have been here longer than you and know how the site works. So if you keep being consistent, it doesn't take them many clicks if they run into one of your posts, to check that on your account you have been trying for a long time.

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

Done, thanks again @rules169!

You're welcome :)

The massive advantage on here is just that you'll be rewarded for the content directly, not the site operator monopolistic structure.

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

We can only hope to someday :(

Dollar Vigilante at it again with another awesome post. This will serve as an asset to newbies. You just joined and already have given a lot of value here to lots of Steemers. We're proud to have you here @dollarvigilante . Keep on the great post. And oh i loved your ending words after that beautiful interview with Ned and Dan. I learnt it. Thanks to you. It means a lot, and I'll say the same to you if you don't mind. Peace, Love and Anarchy. Thank you @dollarvigilante .

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

This one is freakin hilarious Jeff. I like the angle you are taking here, teaching people how to make profits. It's a little different than your usual posts at TDV which are more focused on what's going on in the world with money making as just a part of the puzzle.

I'll be taking the exact same angle here with a focus on Technical Analysis.

Steemit has created an outlet that has long been pent up. I write daily about finance/economics/politics, and enjoy it, but I really enjoy writing and have a lot of other things to say, so I am so happy to have found Steemit and get rewarded for my efforts and love doing it!

There are a lot of haters putting down the idea of STEEMIT. They call it a scam or a scheme because they claim they will never make money a la Berwick. And while that might be true, a lot of us, less visible content-creators can make good cash as well. I recently cashed in 500 bucks and took my family to king spa and then out to eat... on money made by a couple of articles. Thank you for this guide... I will follow the tips.

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

Jeff is the new top writer for Steemit.

As for images, the top image on this post is a prime example of how a million dollar picture! ;D

Hahahaha ...Read the whole article and make me laugh so much...Thank you for reminding me about repainting the fence :)

Social Media has something key in its name, ¨Social¨. For too long people have been using it as a bullhorn. I had one client recently ask me to delete every one of their followers on another platform. I reluctantly did just that and with a month she had lost over 1000 followers or 20% of her total. Why do you think that happened?

People want to be social, it is human nature. What Steemit has done is to make it profitable to interact with your fans, followers and commenters. I have to admit that it is freaking genius. Sure you will get some shitty comments of little to no value but in the end they will not get upvotes and will in the end be just as worthless as a typical Facebook comment.

Keep producing amazing content Jeff and Steemit Community and there will be no limit to what we can accomplish in an uncensored community.

Okay this my first post as a steemer. I am still trying to figure it out. I came because I am a Dollar Vigilante subscriber, and if Jeff says it is cool it MUST be cool. Thanks for the quick tutorial Jeff!

You hit the nail in the coffin. If you cant write posts then load up your steem power account and make useful comments. Especially if you are a motivator...The main thing is: get off the fence and get into the game :-)...Thx to Steem you can do just that...

@dollarvigilante Holy Shit Man...Can you explain how 35f lags can totally wipe out 800 up-votes.. I get people are jealous of your sucess but thats really shitty

Well that didn't take long ... revenge of the minnows

I dont understand that either. But why has such a downvote rain not affected his rep more? I thought you end in Steemit hell if lots of whales hit you. Or cant you go minus rep anymore after the change?

Okay, how do I put this nicely!

You want people to make money on steemit? Then quit using your fame and notoriety to get to the front page and make thousands of dollars EVERY DAMN DAY.

Seriously, post something useful and memorable....like ORIGINAL WORK or just take a break for a few days.

All my posts so far have not been original works?? Clearly the community likes my contributions. Keep hatin'... read my last post to see how that works out.

Had to upvote this because it shouldn't have been flagged. @kuriko, you are abusing the flag feature.

How can you tell who is flagging? How can I access this information?

change steemit to steemd in the URL @james212

@dollarvigilante I hope you understand I'm trying to be helpful here.

We are not your regular audience. You're missing the mark with a substantial portion of the population. One person with seriously high rep just gave you a single downvote and one person with serious SP (a whale) also just gave you a downvote. The whale who downvoted you is widely considered to be someone who is extremely generous with his upvotes.

That's 2 downvotes from people with major influence on this platform.

Read @dana-edwards posts on stigmergic effects for a highlevel over view of what's happening right now. But basically there is hate and dissent being fomented and you're stirring it, unintentionally. You will need to counter this quickly and correctly or the community will begin to ostracize you.

Read my response to your "stahp" post for an indepth and personalized explanation of what's going wrong and how you can fix it right away, the right way. (you can always find my post by hitting ctrl+f and typing williambanks)

If it's too long to read, here's a summary.
Step back, take a big deep breath. Follow a few minnows you like and listen carefully to their concerns then use your status to help others. Maybe feature and highlight the quality stuff you find. You'll make more money, but more importantly so will they.
That stops the hate, resentment, jealousy, anger which all boil down to ...
fear

For everyone else, this video changed my life...

"That's 2 downvotes from people with major influence on this platform."
I have to say this is a major flaw of the Steem community that there are individuals "with major influence". Methods can vary but in essence its censorship. And I was under the impression that we have freedom of speech - so does the followers have the right to upvote what they find worth appreciating. So to all #whales - please share your thoughts with us but stop censoring our community.

you got flagged by kuriko, upvoted you... but it doesn't help :(

Punishing a guy for being successful? Maybe you ARE the real @berniesanders
dude... Jeff Berwick is not my hero but flagging his post to appease the complainers is a political act. Not good.

No, punishing him for writing junk that's been written 200+ times on this site when he could CLEARLY be writing much better material. You'll also see I'm not the only one who thinks this.

#stopthesteemitcirclejerk

@berniesanders: the guy wrote original content even if the subject has been covered many times. I don't see how that deserves a downvote. Sure he could write something more interesting, but so do you. Where are those great posts one would expect to see from you after such a sententious judgement? Basically if you support whales downvoting things just because they are "not original enough", this place is going to become a slaughterhouse and we will make all users flee. Beside the guy has his own followers who come in in droves and read his blog first. It makes sense to educate them right there at their landing point. I'm really not sure what you think you are doing here and what I should think about it myself. That's probably the most abusive downvote I've seen since I joined Steem, and it's really a pity that it had to come from you.

It's good to know that one can just flag any post you don't like. If we all do that then ALL of the content will be flagged. You should not down vote content unless or until a downvote button is implemented. It is abuce to flag a post that was not abusive. I am not a huge fan of the @dollarvigilante but i think that your actions @berniesanders just fucked up the system.

I get flagged too but I don't complain about it. I just consider them valuable market signals. Bernie sanders, Smooth, and the rest of the whales are all heavily invested in Steemit. They're the big shareholders that we work for. You can't join a company and ignore your bosses' wishes. It's their company, after all. Our stake in it is negligible compared to theirs.

When you bring a guy like him on steemit you'd expect he does what he usually does in his everyday life with his videos and original articles. It's like bringing in a very popular youtuber to see him turn into a regular blogger because it is just easier to do money this way. You need to understand he has the attention he has because he is known for what he does. He is not known for this kind of article which most people have been ignored for. Always understand the fame comes with responsibilities, when you are known for something and you see all the attention toward you, don't start abusing the system into taking the easy path. Respect to all the whales who decided this wasn't going to work.

The market was going to solve this problem. @dollarvigilante earnings were trending down. I am sure that you whales will learn to spread your votes out too. Circle Jerks are going to form around people of like mind also. The follow and feed functions will enable this. For instance i will be following people who know how to engineer freedom and plan to make #buildfreedom a thing.

I've been talking with quite a few of the whales and dolphins and most of them are making a conscious effort to spread their voting power thinly over a lot of posts. There are just a few exceptions to this who believe that Steemit should be like a casino that motivates people to keep playing by dropping spectacular jackpots.

Actually a casino isn't about "spectacular jackpots", but it's about not being able to predict the size or time of the jackpot. When you spread the winnings around you actually make it even more like a slot machine rather than like a lottery. Since in either case of a slot machine or lottery there is no guaranteed win, it's like a casino regardless.

Steemit can only operate like a casino unless everyone is guaranteed a proportionate payout and in that case it becomes like a regular salary.

No, punishing him for writing junk that's been written 200+ times
Have you listened to your own words? However much you are right, I dont think that it is up to you or anyone else to judge this. After all, that it gets popular is mostly due to the followers, right. So they are wrong too. We are all entitled to our views on the subject and can share what we want. You can upvote or flag as anyone else. But the are two problems, as I see it. The reason of flag and your power of a vote (up/down). Flag from whales is devastating and honestly I think there should be an upper limit of aggregation of vote power to avoid the whole situation. The number of posts - increasing day by day - will give numerous examples of "thing being written 100+ times" - this is the curse of blogs - no one can keep track of any thing and new members arriving all the time will believe they have the "new" idea with them. Its a little like trying to hold on to a shooting star. So Bernie - enjoy the community or platform or what you prefer to call Steemit and share YOUR original, non abusive thought with us. Be a nice whale and leave the small fishes alone :-)

I commend you for your bold action!

Really good points mentioned here, especially about the fact that everyone will be coming here and spending their time and effort. I am a youtuber and always spent so much time on youtube ad Facebook and earned around 100-200 dollars a month, so this provides a much better opportunity to be rewarded for your hard work and also like you mentioned comment on thee people posts. You have done very well here, so keep going, you will be a whale soon :P Thanks! Alla

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

Keep posting and making money by telling people how happy you are that you made money instead of posting some real analysis of real world stuff.

@dollarvigilante This was a great post! Wish you'd tell us who the whale whisperer was though! ;)

There are some other tips that might be helpful. I was trying to help @diamondlou by providing constructive criticism. But things that work are things that work.
https://steemit.com/work/@diamondlou/diamond-lou-is-now-publishing-on-steemit-com
I have been watching him since he got here and have been giving advice in hopes of collecting it into a more comprehensive noobies guide, mostly as an answer to my good friend @casandrarose who posted a really cute guide. https://steemit.com/steemit/@casandrarose/noobie-s-guide-to-whales-and-other-steemit-fish

@berniesanders just downvoted this posting though, so no way am I risking that guide, it would flatten my rep to negative in a heartbeat. Plus it's a lot of effort to put together a quality post like that.

@dollarvigilante Hey do us a favor. If anyone happens to send you an article that you think is quality, give it an upvote and maybe mention it in your blog. Lots of quality stuff gets passed over here because everyone is looking at a handful of people instead of sifting through tons of content looking for something worthwhile. It would be helpful if highly visible people with a huge platform could help us find the real hidden gems. Probably cause perpetual critics like myself to shut up about the current disparity too :D

I fucking love all your success here good job brother you truly deserve it disregard the damn haters. You built your self to become a crypto God!!!! Wish I was a crypto God maybe some day. Out of the ashes a Steemit Phoenix arises!

Ive also noticed when commenting on posts it grabs the attention to ad a custom meme.

Certainly grabbed my attention...

Good post and thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Wondering why steem price is going down? Because someone who wrote the exact same thing he just did got out with a few $ . But how does someone who has never experienced being a non successful newbie on steemit is able to advice new steemians without personal experience?

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

It must be great to just write one post to have enough money for a month. I wish to see Steemit beating Facebook and everybody here today enjoying the same! For now you're our pioneer Jeff. Enjoy it!

If you can dream it, you can steemit.

I see allot of post on how people see steemit is a new facebook. I dont wanna be it like a new facebook! Blogging is something else then posting. Steemit must be quality en making new friends... steemit should be like it is only with more different content and more functions.

Thank you for these advices. I will try to use them in my next work. Btw, check out my last post. I wrote about you :)

You have to work real hard and be good at a lot of stuff to get the mad downvoting power.

amazing...this will set us back.

Nah, Steemit sells itself. Getting people here is the easy part. Helping them to get comfortable and understand the system is the challenge. We all have a roll to play in making it the kind of place that curious visitors decide to migrate to and stay at. Casinos can be fun for a day or two but nobody wants to live in them long term.

Your posts are bringing so much to offer for us just like all your previous work has done. Thanks greatly @dollarvigilante!

You better sell that STEEM quick because that $30,000 is going to turn to about $7500 shortly as this system got hyped before its internals have been worked out properly.

At that point I would like to inform you that depending on your tax residency the tax man may think that you owe him 35% or 40% of that $30,000.

Also keep in mind that 50% of it takes 2 years to take out, while your taxes will come due in much less time, essentially making you front money to cover this revenue.

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

Did you think he waited until he cashed out his first few thousands lol

lol

Hi Jeff,

welcome back to earth.
I dont know why the whales shut you down, maybe you cashed out to much on poloniex. At the end someone has to buy this Steem Dollar, and if too many people cash out, this is getting expensive ;-)

Best Regards,
woodmikel!

Amazing how big your following is on here @dollarvigilante you are superstar here! I wish I was like you!

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

Ok, Jeff, why did I make zero dollars on this one then?
https://steemit.com/life/@tee-em/decentralized-living-part-1

Good advice there, I would also say read other people's posts, learn as much as you can about Steemit, there's loads of posts out there with advice and there's always someone here who will help you.

You rock! Hey, how much do I have to write to afford to go to Anarchapulco? That sounds like a place I want to go.

perfect article...reading through the article had the pictures created for me in front of my eyes as well to see if I had that whale whisper who had a lot of steem power and can walk through with me holding my hands and encouraging me to say that I was going in the right direction...I enjoyed reading it...I would love guidance from the genius people around steemit...like whale, ned, craig-grant and many more that hold the knowledge and power of steemit...

Meanwhile the abusers and stalkers are allowed to roam STEEMIT saying vile things to women and people are worried about repeat content. How about installing some safe guards for the nice community you built? Then police the content. Yes I am not a happy camper about that. The community has been speaking in regards to the reprehensible few who have made accounts here and the harassment is allowed to continue because.....content?. That's how I am feeling right now. I feel the community doesn't have access to the people who could help change these issues because they are to busy curating. If youre in a position of power, then you should be making this a safer place. I get its a beta forum so don't put in any more work than necessary? I would just like @berniesanders to realize he may have bigger problems here than content. Any questions about that please look at @feminism @earnest pages. Ask @lauralemons and @stellabelle How much fun its been dealing with the steemit crazies. Hell ask me. No whale has been paying attention the bigger issue at hand as far as I know. List to your community. They are speaking. Down vote this all you want but this is a prominent issue in a circle of folks right now and if I have to take a few down votes to get it heard, so be it. Maybe by commenting on this thread, I can make a difference and get someone to look at things other than down votes. We really need a community section for complaints to be addressed by a community leader.

So ive posted plenty of articles with photos and everything but followers! So what your saying is if you dont have alot of followers your screwed!! Oh and I use (imgsafe.org ) you cant seem to delete photos from there but its easy to use and stores alot of pictures!

I agree it is best to comment on post than to rely solely on one's own posts. The idea of steemit is to be social.

at last your sentence should be..."If you follow the simple tips above you should generate some good income from your work over time. and if "whisperer" show some interest then "whisperer" can make your post go from a dark alley to the shining lights on Broadway" thanks for very informative tips i will do my best to follow you and your great ideas.

Interaction just builds your net which catches your following. Commenting on posts I really like is the best way for people to show their personality. Well I can write anything I want but unless I am really terrific at writing or lying my comment will show who I am and I am worthy of any interest or not.

I'm still very new to steemit but this platform is great. No longer do i have to endure the keyboard warriors, shoe advertisements or vague attention seeking posts. Thanks for all your hard work Jeff ( a loyal subscriber ).

oh gosh. That last section of the article just hit me when you mention painting the white fence...That's a witty pic worthy!

I don't have anything interesting to say, just here for that sweet, sweet, curation reward.

I think that the thing most of us are not used to is consistency in creating content. That alone would make everything else easier. But then again, what do I know, I'm just getting started :)

Great post with actionable tips for a newbie just starting on steemit. Nothing beats hardwork is the basic theme I hear from the successful writers here. So I really need to hone my non existent writing skills asap to contribute something of value here. And be apart of the next great social media wave!

Another great article packed with great tips for those of us wanting to earn here at steemit. My only question is - don't we have a preview right below the editor? I see it updating in real time and use it to edit Before I post the article. Saves doing edits after the fact.

Another item I'd like to toss in. Is it true that if we edit our post once cash has been assigned, we will lose those accrued earnings? Definitely want to avoid that!

Cheers,
diamondlou

Haha, I'd have upvoted this one just for the picture of the fence!!
Good, thoughtful post. Thanks Jeff!

Thanks for the tips jeff!

As a New person in Steemit , its important to be consistent and continually understand the Steeemit blogging process. Definitely need time to catch up with the jargon and new terms related to crypt o-currencies. I definitely enjoy reading some great articles as well as sharing some of the articles on facebook to gather attention and drive traffic. Steemit will be a great place for Free Speech activists and supporters and also challenge folks to expand their horizons to new ideas and not be an echo chamber.

Good post, Jeff.

Like you mentioned, people don't seem to realize that most of the people doing well on here already had a huge social media following that took years to build. Or they were "famous" or otherwise influential in their industries, etc.

I was thinking the same thing about the people with 50 Facebook friends surprised they get less likes, than say, Ozzy Osbourne's Facebook fanpage or whatever.

It is very pleasant to read, I am looking forward to the new posts. :)
I hope that you enjoy the black and white images. @foxkoit B&W

I post about real news and events, not bullshit to keep people asleep. I want to ingage people's minds and keep them awake

well my best post made $0.60 but hey, as you said we are only starting, and so am i :) i just hope there will be a day when i can make at least monthly house payment with steemit :/ it's kinda hard to be student and on your own...

Make sure you follow advice from @dollarvigilante and others to make your posts better And visible. Be consistent and patient. Nothing in this life is given to us, we must earn it. So just keep at it and you will succeed! :)

awesome. thanks

If you need images you can use steemimg.com made by one of our community members found on steemtools.com

You could also use the site above that @dollarvigilante referenced or sites such as imgur.com

You need to get the image URL (web address) and if you are typing into the editor in such a way it will not let you click an image button (this is true in some browsers)

simply type img src="url for image here"/ inside of <>

< img src="your image url starting with http or https" />

remove the space at the beginning and end of that example...

happy steeming...

So the beginning of the process looks like what's in these quotes? "<IMG SRC=htt. . .>"
<IMG=SRC

Yeah... all LOWER CASE for the "img src" part but yes.. put quotes around the address from the website. It looks like there are some posted examples in this discussion now that show some screenshots.

I'm glad to see the arguments here, the "owner's" opinion, and how much it swings things before recommending (ie; growing) steem. Jeff could have (and may still) bring so many in to steem - glad he is thick skinned. As for me, I will wait before buying in! Watching Jeff's interview with the steem founders now. @dollarvigilante

Excellent information for me and especially the tip about images. I will need to figure out how to do that. I tried and I got no where. But now I have to figure it out.
Thank you for your advise,
dubloon135

#6 is definitely me.

Unfortunately I didn't read this helpful list before posting my first entry. No picture and it's a copy/paste. LOL Thank you for the links about the markdown language, I may come back to my original post to clean it up once I figure that part out. Or maybe I'll just leave it the way it is and see what happens. :)

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

The last picture alone is worth the upvote :)

i found your post interesting and helpful - so why the downvotes??- thanks for the info any help always welcomed, especially if you made $30k , must be doing something right....

Nice tips! They made me go back to my three notes I published in FB and analyze them a bit. One of three had decent formatting for example :) Hardest thing to do is consistency but steemit is all about changing it. I have been postponing ideas to write about but possible reward for good work brings more urgency to the table. And I see it here left and right with the others. I have never before witnessed such an explosion of sharing thoughts and expertise.

http://imgsafe.org/

Very easy image uploader to use! After uploading, click on image, copy URL, paste, and complete. Image will appear in your markdown area. I guess that's kind of a preview thing.

Wow this site seems really awesome! I'm looking forward to where this is going! Thanks for this article. I will keep these tips in mind for sure. Also, thanks @lukewearechange for the video that brought me here 😁

If you write a post entitled, "I Painted My Fence This Weekend" and it, literally, just tells of how you painted your fence this weekend...... why would you expect anyone to care?

Sounds like a challenge for some talented writers out there! :D

The only thing I'm missing is a ton of followers. I'm launching a new project for my business in conjunction with Steemit. It's all about voluntary relationships and putting our money where our anarchist mouth's are. I'm fully invested in my project and have everything lined up. Now I'm working on the funding to get it started properly.

I think this platform can make a huge difference, especially when you combine good content with a worthy cause. Anyone can contribute funding without the associated personal risks. I hope that people will follow me while I attempt to demonstrate voluntaryism in action. Let me know what you think of this...

I Enjoyed your article dollarvigilante always great to see good content

@mrgrey

I launched 2 tags today and wrote the first review: https://steemit.com/review/@razvanelulmarin/good-boy-no-more-the-night-of-episode-5-new-tags-review-tvshows

I hope to see it grow. What do you think of this initiative @dollarvigilante?

I think my best bet is to post things that would be great in the WTF category... ;)

So far, the best, most consistent written content I have ever seen has been on this platform. Perhaps, with a chance to get rewarded, people are more likely to strive for excellence. Thanks for another great read Jeff, I look forward to your informative updates regularly on all your platforms, although, it looks like we should all just move over here now.

Thanks for the suggestions! Hopefully it will help my posts!!!

Thank you for this post Jeff, great practical tips on writing :)

Thanks for the tips, Jeff!

Keep flaunting your money, that's really good taste. The whole site is based on hype and lies. Youtube videos that earn 5k but have 100 real views. Yes, the money is real, for now. Once these gimmick payouts are over it will be dead silence over here.

People like you and whales created the perfect censorship machine, the one that cost money to speak the truth. In your previous post an user agreed with me and said he was afraid to say something else because of downvotes. It's incredible the power that money have on individuals, they lose all integrity and think they've won at life.

Congratulations on your profits.

Keep hatin'. Keep not improving yourself. Keep being envious and jealous of others. It's worked so far right?

You don't know who I am, but I sure know enough about you based on your posts. Keep making money and sucking these idiots dry. You do have a talent.

Basing on your analysis (which is in my opinion half biased and in part correct), Steemit is not about HQ content, but what "whales" likes most.
Big letdown for me, honestly.

Haha, that pic tho. I bet the neighbors were repeatedly hassling them to paint their fence. That is great.

Also, great article. :)

good article. I agree that you need to properly make out the text

Solid advice especially on building audience. It's critical.

Prior to joining steemit, I had not heard of The Dollar Vigilante. Now that I've seen a few of your posts, I see what all the fuss is about and I'd like to personally say thanks for being here. I'll definitely be reading more of your posts in the future.

Btw, if you don't mind, how did you do with the surge metals had after Brexit?

I've just written a Steemit post about how you can easily, free and legally embed images on your Steemit posts via e.g. Pixabay:

Great post Jeff. I wrote a post called 10 Tips for Writing a Winning Steemit Post. It explains how to make a Steemit post better and hopefully get more Steem money for the writer. Hey Jeff, You do great work at the dollarvigilante, I try and catch all your postings on youtube and facebook. Thanks for introducing me to steemit, I've been reading all your steemit posts from the outset and I appreciate all the research your doing and the tips you hand out.

This is a great post. I haven't done my first post yet because i was thinking the same thing. Build connections first. I had quite a bit of followers to a website i created a while back called The Truth Addict. Im trying to summon some of them up first. I don't want to post just to post. In the meantime, I have been upvoting all the positive anarchist Steemit posts. Thanks Jeff. I watch all of the Anarchast and Dollar Vigilante videos and plan to make it to Anarchapulco in February.

Ugh, I've never had the dedication to anything like you did for your blog. I've tried so many different online blogs and things over the years but never had the consistency to keep it going and get past the hump. I've only made little amounts of money online. I'm hoping I can change it all around here on Steem. For the past week I've literally dedicated my life to Steem. @johnnyyash

You know, now that I think about it. The only reason I've been on facebook at all this week is to share Steemit posts

Same here. But it feels like Facebook has been a little dead the last few days. Hmm...maybe it's the Olympics?

Or maybe it's Steemit! :)

I like that one better

Yep......... bringing value to the reader is what keeps them coming back and yes this is going to be big

Good article. We can all earn some cash here on Steemit. Some a lot, some a little. The best to know is we are in it still very very early!

follow me and upvote my posts... I will do that for you as well, we can help build a network for each other...

I'm going to try to start sharing Meme's, especially the ones that get me a 30 day bans on Facebook.
