Why I will never make more than a $1 on steemit and why I don't give a sh#!t

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

Since the inception of steemit I have seen see tons of people complaining about how to make money on steemit and frankly I could care less about those individuals. I have been consistently posting on Twitter, Facebook and Trading View for years without any expectation of receiving renumeration or monetary incentive so why should I care about making money here now? Well I don't!!

I post on social media sites for several reasons: on Twitter https://twitter.com/domavila I post about most things related to crypto and trading, such as useful articles, cutting edge news and certain trading philosophies. On Facebook

https://www.facebook.com/domavila1973, I mainly post my interests and loves such as; music (I am a music producer and artist), Futbol (Soccer in the US), Basketball (I love the Lakers), surfing and skateboarding (I live in Long Beach, CA two blocks from the beach so what do you expect), and political satire and comedy. On trading view
https://www.tradingview.com/u/domavila/#published-charts I publish my trade setups so others can benefit and so I can constantly improve my trading.

Here on steemit I will post all of the above and the reason I will do this is because I like spreading information and knowledge wether it is useful to some or not and this is the perfect platform to do it. It doesn't matter to me wether what I post is popular to the trendy elite steemers, whales or whatever the hell people pander to on this site, as long as one person benefits, finds my info useful, gets a laugh from a funny post or likes my music I have done my job.

Now to why I will never make more than a dollar on a post here on steemit. This wont happen because: I don't care if I am penalized for making more than four posts a day, I will like peoples posts if they are cool and will do it as many times as I want wether it hurts my voting power or not and I refuse to pander for votes.
Also, I haven't learned how to style my posts with markdown yet (this I actually want to learn) and lastly, even though I went to UC Berkeley, my grammar sucks and I am just not that great of a writer.

I dig steemit and wish all the people producing great content the best of luck and I hope you enjoy my future posts.

Oh yea, I haven't done an introduce yourself so I guess this is it and to all those saying I need to verify myself by holding a stupid piece of paper up I'm just not going to do it. If you read this article and put any effort into actually knowing who I am and checked out my Twitter, Facebook and Trading view profile you will surely know its me.

Now its time to make it rain downvotes!! Peace out steemers.

Update: Damm it!! I'm at $2.59. You guys made a liar out of me, I might have to change my title. Haha

Welcome aboard! I'm hoping the initial hype a lot of people had about making it rich here has died down. While I was out for my lunch hour walk I was thinking about how I'd much rather make a couple dollars a day from upvoted comments and stuff than writing an amazing article that wins me a ton of money. I believe this place will get to that point, I just hope it does before too many people see what this site "could have been" instead of seeing it actual work.

Write that amazing article man!! I want to read it!!

Well thanks. I don't have a ton of inspiration lately, unfortunately. I'm either not as much of a writer as I'd like to be, or I'm just actually better at talking. I've thought about doing vlogs instead of blogs, but I just never get myself dedicated enough to actually do it. I do have some things I've submitted in the past, and the only thing that's actually done well by most people's standards is one that primarily features photography with a short blurb about each photo. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to submit posts that get me a nice reward every couple of days, but I also don't want to write just to get that payout. I want whatever I post to really mean something to me. I'm sure there will be more posts with my name under them, I just need to have the right feeling about it to even try.

Right on @robsteady, I completely understand but from what I can tell you are a good talker and writer and I will look forward to what you have to say. Thanks for the comments and conversation brotha.

@jandgapps I am pretty sure you can comment as much as you like but don't quote me on that.

very good :D

Thanks brotha!!

ok,, good luck

I completely agree. People shouldn't be worrying about post efficiency to earn the most amount of money, certain times to make sure that you get maximum votes, etc. It's social media, post what you want, when you want. Don't be tied down by trying to squeeze money out of your content. Simply treat Steemit like a normal piece of social media where, on top of your usual posts, you occasionally receive bits of cryptocurrency.

My thoughts exactly @alcoholic. Wise words brotha.

Hey, I saw in your post something about "making 4 posts in a day." I guess I missed that info. We can reply all day long, right? Take care

How do I find out who downvoted me? I would like to thank them for being a predictable coward and for their obvious lack of humour.

Click the drop down arrow next to the # of votes to see who has voted on the post. The + or - relate to upvotes or downvotes, so you can see what the person voted.

Right on!! Thanks for the info. and now I know who it was but I wont put @ranko-k on blast or anything. Haha

@alcoholic Exactly!! You basically said what I was trying to convey in a few sentences, what took me a whole entire blog. I told you guys I was a terrible writer. Haha

@alcoholoc Is a downvote the same as a flag? Just wondering.

Yes it is unfortunately. I think a lot of misconception goes on about flagging. In my opinion flags should be for plagerism, copy/paste, tag spam, and "hate".

Welcome, Hope so see you around.

@patrice Thanks for clarifying man. It's all good though, I can't really complain because I was asking for downvotes in a half sarcastic type way. I thought a flag was worse than a downvote but it's not so I'm cool with it.
