John Mcaffee opening the d10e conference
Last week was not as proficient as usual, in terms of writing, but it was very proficient in terms of real life activities, like networking. Two days from last week were fully booked with d10e, a decentralization conference with a great lineup, which happened, for the first time, in Bucharest. I had an amazing time, met a lot of nice people, learned tremendously about blockchain related technologies and got the opportunity to present my own project, Hubcoin. I won't put the links to my reviews of the conference, if you want to follow up, just click on the #d10e tag, and you'll see all the articles related to this topic.
Since there is only a limited amount of time you can put in a week, I didn't post as often as I wanted to. So, today's recap will focus only on two main points. I will again leave aside the story telling challenge, which unfolded according to the plan (you can just follow the tag #challenge30 to stay updated, I won't clog this article with these links).
Steemit
- Organic Growth versus Guild-Backed Growth versus Whale-Backed Growth on Steemit - a short view at the growth algorithms you can use in the Steemit ecosystem
- Hardfork Early, Hardfork Often - why this approach, following the famous "release early, release often" of the Open Source golden era, is useful in these early days of Steemit too
- Stories From The Startup Land: Good Clients versus "Paying Customers" (And How Steemit Fits Here) - a good client is one that will buy the service, whereas a paying customer is usually buying the discount
Reviews
- Friday is for Films: Travelers and Magicians, by Khyentse Norbu - a feature movie written and directed by a real Buddhist lama. A very good feature movie, I can add.
- Slow Saturday - Dune, by Frank Herbert - always a classic, the Dune series is a must for anyone living in the modern era, where the fight for energy (in the form of oil, these days) is shaping our entire existence on Earth
