Christopher Columbus was invented America.

He was a Spanish nevy-adventure. The queen of Spain gave her navy and money for the discovery of the waterways of India. But he discovered a completely unpublished continent.

Then the name of America could be Columbus or Colombia, is not it? But it did not. Because, when Columbus discovered this straw, he still does not know that he is inventing a whole new continent! He thought he had reached India. In fact, he went to the West Indies. There are so many islands in the Caribbean Sea between two America. The countries which together play cricket in the name of West Indies .

Later, the American was named after the Italian explorer and cartographer Amerigo Vespucci. And this name was first used by German cartographer Martin Wandsimmüller . This Amerigo Vespucci is the second European explorer to travel to America.
He first understood that this is not India, but a whole new continent. And that's the name of the new continent in America - America. In 1774, America was independent from British rule. America is named as 'The United States of America' In short, 'United States' or 'USA'.

But Columbus's name is not used in the country, but it is not. The names of many American cities are called 'DC'. For example, Washington DC This DC means District of Columbia. In addition to Columbus, there is a whole country in South America - Colombia.
