Hi All

It is very discouraging to see up votes receiving over $1,000 and $2,000 on blogs about travel everyday and get $1.00 for a philosophical piece I have sweated over or a poem...especially since they seem to be only happening for certain individuals.

Is the system rigged???

I would like to know what criteria people are using to merit these posts, please...

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

I think that minnows like travel posts, whales like to support posts about how steem or steemit has potential. I know there is not so much people who ate deep into art but i think you could grow anyway cuz there is always people who admire art and there will be more and more people on steemit.

Yeah I guess it seems not fair but mostly they have good connections with other people that upvote them. And also a lot of followers. Don't worry man, you're really good, I'm sure you will get there as well :)

It's sort of a rigged system as far as I can tell, not really a content meritocracy. Whales who have down well via content curation on a single offer continue to vote for them over and over, it helps them. Whales also support whales which keeps the money at the top, ie. they want to garner a whale vote in return for a whale vote, which is win-win for them. The relationships are deep as are the pockets, I guess like in the real world, those people tend to garner a lot of votes.

RIGGED like in real life...

Yeah, it's frustrating that quality gets burned down by sheer fire power, well steem power. I've seen it as well in my first week, but that's the way this place works. I'm going to keep putting out worthy posts that hopefully even improve over time and build my place in the community. ...So frustrating though seeing throwaway posts make hundreds of dollars.

No they have just been here building up longer. Also it has to do with building relationships with people here. The more people that support you, doesn't matter as much as what you post.

No that is not true I have received awards for how many people support me and my Wallet only eva goes down...

This is it. Some people are popular, so they get lots of upvotes... there's some luck, some skill, some elements of timing. It's like everything else in life.

I think there is still a tendency to pile onto a post in hope of maximizing curation rewards and some automatic voting by bots as well. It seems like the platform is evening out a bit more but it is hard to tell.

I try to do what I can to spread out my votes to a variety of content and purchase Steem when I can. I think that the long term success is going to come from multiple factors and not just the rewards that are being distributed. As things even out more I hope the post rewards will achieve a better balance.

try to engage more people with your post :) this might work considering travel post will work more efficient because people opt to see cool pics and less reading may be thats the trend.

I agree that is discouraging. But those who get $1000 for any kind of content, In my opinion are on Steemit long time and they have a lot of followers, who also have a lot of voting power. Hard work in the end pays off. Keep up whit the good work and you will get there.

I have 572 followers and have been here for a year...

yeah i too sometime feel that people only love travel blogs that should not be right :( others deserve chance too

i think you need to get connect with more people who like your interest or same !!

Have 572 followers...

you are right buddy your hardwork should get motivation from community.

I think you have to spin in the community hurricane to get more attention to your content. Comment and get acquainted with other creators. And just move forward improving it.
