The inflation rate for STEEM is really high, so if you are confident and want to speculate in STEEM, you should change it all to Steem Power. Although beware that you can't withdraw it all for 104 weeks.

There's no real point in 'investing" in steem dollars because it's just supposed to be worth around a dollar.

Depends on for how long are you planning to hold your investment. If we're talking of +1 year, you should buy steem and transfer it to steem power.

If under that you should look into differences in Steem dollars and Steem. 90% of new steem is distributed between people who have powered up, so while the inflation rate might seem bad for Steem, most of that will keep getting powered down, most likely. Steem dollars are supposed to act as an safe heaven, but you do get 10% interest for holding it.

--- If you're playing on small timescale and with money you can lose, I'd probably buy steem and try to speculate with it.

Welcome! I actually just started putting a list together to help people get started. These articles should answer your questions.
