My thoughts exactly! You do not need any reason to help someone. You do not need to help someone in exchange for what you stand to gain. If you find someone in need and you are in a position to help, just do it!
There are a lot of 'rich' people who can be wealthier and greater if they could only adopt some simple life techniques. Helping people should not be as a result of force or coercion. Someone does not have to hang around your gate everyday before you can help him. You don't need to keep rescheduling appointments before you can give that person a job.
I've heard some people give the silly excuse about bad past experiences that have made them stop helping people. If someone you've helped in the past has wronged you, leave the matter to God. Stop attempting to do God's job. That shouldn't be a valid reason for you to stop doing good.
Note: Nobody ever loses from helping! You only gain! You might not see the gains immediately but it will definitely come. Let yourself be free and do a good deed today!
