Let's Talk—How Can We Improve Engagement on Steemit?

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

Steemit brings new opportunities to try some interesting experiments. Currently I'm the 13th most followed user on this platform, down by 1 position as I took a break from writing to focus on other things in the past 4 weeks. In the process of getting there from 60-70 most followed I learned a few things and I'll share a couple of them today.

Source

From mid-May to July I concentrated on gaining many followers to the point that I grew my account from 600 followers in mid-May to over 5000 by July by simply posting every day. I was following a little over 2000 accounts at the time and in mid-July I decided to do something different and followed many more users.

As someone who is trending regularly it was easier to gain traction on my posts and have giant leaps in follower counts. On an average when I've been posting regularly without following anyone I was getting about 50-80 followers a day and that doubled up with me following other users.

This is a strategy that works well if you want to increase your numbers but the real question is this: Does this result in better engagement?

This is a question that I've been asked a lot on and off Steemit.Chat in the past few months. It's no doubt that anyone making the trending page on a regular basis is going to have tremendous engagement (votes+comments+views) and increase in follower count.

Let's remember that our world is a place of perceptions. Having a huge follower count certainly helps. Unlike Instagram where you can buy hundreds and thousands of fake followers via services, this isn't currently possible on Steemit and unlikely that it'll ever be. Here people will have to manually follow you to increase your follower count.

The result of this lil' experiment was interesting. I'll lead with the positive bits first based purely on observation and some tracking using Steem explorer tools such as @spectacles as well as Steemdb.com.

In recent times I've been helping my friend @sjennon and her partner in development @pilcrow with some ideas for their app @spectacles. It provides some unique insights into your account and it's currently in beta version which you can test out here!

The Good

  1. Increase in resteems
  2. Increased view counts
  3. Very slight change in number of upvotes received
  4. The perception and appeal of a large follower base.
  5. Increase in comments

There are some shortcomings to the follower system that is likely to be improved in the days to come and that's something I would like us to discuss and maybe come up with some ideas that Steemit could consider working towards and improving the platform.

Not So Good

  1. Upvotes or lack thereof. Now i'm not talking payout value here but purely number of votes that you receive. Before the jump from 3000 followers to 9000 I used to receive about 220-270 votes on an average. Now I receive around 300-340 and sometimes 400 and above. At 3000 followers this was approx 9-10% engagement but with 9000+ followers this is roughly 3% engagement. Some of the authors who make it to the front page and rank within a few minutes seem to have bot farms following them in addition to high stake holders of the platform following their posts. Just so you know Facebook pages give you 1-2% engagement without paid promotion but that's not an accurate comparison.
  2. Ghost followers or dead followers. People who follow you but never interact with your account. This figure includes those who are inactive entirely from Steemit.
  3. People comment but rarely upvote. There are a many times when the comments on a blog exceeds the votes on it. What can be done to get people to upvote more often. Even if it's a small 1-5% upvote.
  4. Better notification system as we move to sub-communities.

You can view these are other details with @spectacles. Be sure to follow them as well as @sjennon.

Some of the things that you can consider doing:

  1. Interact with other users of the platform via comments and Steemit.Chat.
  2. Build a profile on Steemit, add description etc.
  3. Help people achieve their goals and in turn that has helped me increase my engagement on Steemit.
  4. Participate in contests or host contests.
  5. Have a content marketing strategy to push your content outside of Steemit and build your audience.
  6. Get involved in community building activities.

Building an excellent audience on Steemit will have many perks. I'll write to this effect as we go.

Meanwhile what do you think can be done differently to improve engagement so as to get your ghost followers to engage with your content once again and bring dead followers back to using Steemit once again?

These are exactly one of the reasons me and @pilcrow created @spectacles. Right now, Steemit doesn't give you any insights at all when it comes to user engagement and I believe there was a giant gap which could be filled. I haven't figured out the 'how to gain follower'-secret yet, but I did figure out how to engage with my followers and have a base of upvotes due to my Steemian friends. However, this could only be improved. And in bigger numbers.

Steemit is about giving. Without the users, upvoting and bigger users helping out smaller ones, Steemit could not exist. This is where we want to step. We hope with @spectacles that you get more insights in people's activity when it comes to your posts, so you can reciprocate on that. It basically helps you to exchange and get the data which you can base your next steps on.

Right now, @spectacles support some basic data, and with the help of our BETA testers we hope to provide some more information before the launch!

@firepower, thank you so much for your support and setting up our #spectacles channel! It's a really useful resource to get in touch with other Steemians. <3

@firepower aka my beloved Big B - "Meghan Bhai..."

I am awestruck with each post you write, you share, and the dedication I see is - actually working as a magic spell. That cannot be just expressed in words.

Leaders aren't born, they are created!
Networks don't come self-created;
Leaders connect the threads to build the Web!

...AND...

We love getting Grouped as we see in subreddits. That will bring traction to all those potential posts that get buried under the whale-commanders

I welcome you from the bottom of the heart ♥ - @spectacles : @sjennon , and @pilcrow for the revolutionary idea 💡.

wow.. @sjennon
nice work on @spetacles you and @pilcrow are doing.. am very interested in this as i have issues tracking my supporters and followers....
good one..will check out your blog for more info...

Thank you so much! And yeah, you're not the only one! Haha! Stay tuned :) We hope to give you more information soon!

Please do dear...and find time also to look into my blog posts .thanks...😋

This is all true. But what I see lately, is that "whales" are just self voting. There is no "bigger users, helping smaller ones"

I've had a few of my posts get big upvotes from influential people with high Steem Power. Not all the time, but every once in a while. It feels great to get noticed and appreciated.

I think the "engagement" part of @firepower's post is the thing we should be looking for. How do we connect with people who have similar interests and goals? Apps can help, and I'm looking forward to using @spectacles, but social leadership from a few influential people here may go a long way, too... maybe I can be one of those influential people. All of us have leadership potential. We just have to decide to use it.

We can't really force for whales to up vote the minnows. With @spectacles we hope we can help people to get more insights in their followers and their activity when it comes to their own account. Maybe you have someone upvoting for you for a long time now, but you hadn't noticed - this is the time to give something back to that person and give him an upvote in return too.

I would love to hear more of your thoughts @matthewdavid. If you're on Steemit.Chat, I would love to have a chat with you :)

Thanks @sjennon

I'm not on Steemit.Chat yet, but I'll join soon and connect with you there. I appreciate your comment and look forward to talking with you more soon.

Sure! I am glad to find you on there once you've registered.

Looking forward to talk!

Hmm, @sjennon, I love what you and @pilcrow did with Spectacles, it works great and I truly appreciate it for getting insights in what's happening 'behind the curtains'.

But I don't think I fully agree with you here. Maybe we cannot force whales to upvote minnows, but we can surely explain how we see things:

Whales usually have a large amount of Steem or Steem Power (which is just Steem that you can't withdraw immediately), that's what defines a whale. So it's always in the best interests of whales to see the intrinsic value of STEEM go up. Currently, Steem is valued quite low (it has been higher before at least) and I think the potential for it is huge. Most whales would agree with that, otherwise they'd probably hold different assets.

Now, having whales self-voting a lot does not make Steemit more attractive to new users, therefore it doesn't help their interests a lot. Supporting the minnows on the other hand (as long as the minnows create decent content and engage in meaningful and positive ways) does create an attractive atmosphere, which will lead to faster mass adoption and ultimately, drive up the value and price of Steem.

I see whales understanding these principles, so I'm not too worried, just hope to see more of this kinda stuff:

newbie here, and trying to learn as much as possible thanx for your insight :)
-splendorhub

Yeah.. And that's kind of increasing the gap between whales and minnows - which is a shame. Haven't figured out the solution is for that tho. However, for the whales that are willing to help out - I am sure they can track with @spectacles who to help out too.

This sounds perfectly awesome, I will contribute one way or other by joining the @spectacles and thanks @firepower for informing us about this new tool.

Looking forward to it! :D We are super hyped for the launch!

good good

Great initiative and work. Thanks @sjennon and team :)

Thank you! ;D We plan on opening for public soon, so stay tuned!

Sure! :)

Somehow I figured out the"secret to gain more followers " If you follow more,it reciprocate to at least 30%. I figure out with @carlobelgado ... Please check his profile, he follows around 35,317 and his followers are 11,632 would that be possible or coincidence ?

how much engagement are you triggering? that was the main point

@firepower aka my beloved Big B - "Meghan Bhai..."

I am awestruck with each post you share, you write and the dedication I see - that actually helping build their own branding.

Leaders aren't born - they are self-made!
Network doesn't come self-created;
Leaders connect the chords that builds the Web!

...AND...

We love getting Grouped as we see in subreddits. That will bring traction to all those potential posts that get buried under the whale-commanders

I welcome from heart - @spectacles : @sjennon , and @pilcrow for the revolutionary ideas.

You're very welcome! We are really looking forward to launch :)

very good and helpful for steemit baby :)

Another wonderful informative article @firepower :) The app looks interesting and waiting for it to be live. As you mentioned, a better notification system could definitely help to an extent to notify all the followers including ghost ones. To make them engage, it would be the question of motivation/incentive. And it may be that the engagements are decided based on the individual profile strength than the real content or one's effort. In my opinion, if we can conceal some information that decides one's engagement that may do justice. Having said this, these are just my genuine points from my observation and not to hurt anyone's feeling :)

Bhai I think it happens with everyone irrespective of how good your post or how good the number of follower you have. As you have mentioned it is more important to build relation by commenting, upvoting on other posts or may be chatting .I have been in steemit for around 3 months and i have seen so many good post not getting upvotes and not so good post earning huge in number. You are doing a great job for Indian community, promoting Steemit, helping out others and I am really thankful to you for that. I remember the day i started with a reputation of 25 struggling here and you have really helped me out ,replying to every question /doubts i have asked and now i am in 53. Just a suggestion from me, if you can take initiative to get all Indians together so that we can help each other and rise together as done by other communities such as China,Philippines etc

Following more people to gain more followers is a good idea. I will start adopting it now !! Thanks for this strategy, but you are saying that here we can not increase fake followers like on instagram !! I doubt it because people are using steemfollower.com . I don't want fake followers so I never use it, but they say it can give you many followers. Just got reminded of it when you spoke about fake followers. I don't want steem to become like instagram so a little concerned about it. Hope someone looks after this steemfollower thing. Thank you firepower for all your support and such helpful strategies.

For increasing traffic on steemit I believe that we all should support only the talented people here. Sometimes people only upvote those people back who vote them first or keep them upvoting for long time. If this continues to happen, steemit won't remain an attraction for the talented ones because any group of people can come here, support each other no matter what they upload here is qualitative or not !! People ask me as well to make a deal with them to upvote each other's post. I find it very irritating and it can harm steemit's image I believe.

Thanks for posting this :)

Cool thanks!!

You definitely have a point about people commenting and not upvoteing, cheers mike

It is taking me some time to adjust to steemit. I am a big user of twitter(around 700,000 followers) and enjoy the short fast exchanges. I would, however, love to have some of the features i use on twitter like tweetdeck, where I can set up column on my own to track those I really like to follow closely. also direct messaging would be good. One more thing, I would love to see more transparency regarding the bots that are set to automatically upvote some accounts into the trending area, knocking others of us out of it. what I love about steemit, is that almost everyone on here is dedicated to making it a better place and believes in a win win game plan. Thank you for working so hard on this for us. As far as followers, I refollow everyone that leaves a comment on my post, thinking they had an interest in my post, and thus could develop into a good friend.

Well written post. The increasing number of people coming here, are adding to large amounts of new posts daily. When this happens posters can only respond to so many posts and up vote. That has to effect the number or replies vs. upvotes or no responses as well.

You have shown us new posters how to grow on steemit. It is very hard in the beginning to figure out what is going on here and who to follow. Their could be a lot posters here looking for large sums of money in the first few weeks. Knowing who to follow and even how to follows is not explained when some one comes here. Once they do not see any results they become ghosts followers as you stated. Keep up the goodwork ! I look forward to reading more of your posts.

One of the reasons that I joined Steemit was to be able to find my " Tribe". A community with common interst that could add value to one another through posts and comments. The "money" aspect of steemit is very distracting. I I hate to admit but I have been caught up in it. More engagement brings more value to all involved. I will be keeping my eye on this project

I agree that the money aspect is sometimes distracting instead of a helping factor. I think it's in our culture to become greedy, and this causes is sometimes to make the wrong decisions.

A while back I decided I want to focus on the programming community on Steemit, so I try to interact (upvote and comment) on as many good or interesting programming posts I can find. I'd rather have 100 followers who are programmers than 1000 who aren't.

But still, every once in a while I'm tempted to follow people or engage with posts because I think they will earn me profit, instead of being actual quality posts. The money is an incentive to keep posting (and to keep developing @spectacles, as @firepower mentioned) but it's also a constant devil on my shoulder telling me "if you do x you might earn more money".

I guess what I can take away from this all is that I recognize my own greed, so I can make a deliberate choice to not succumb to it. But it's a constant battle. It's in our nature, I guess.

Well said @pilcrow.

I notice and appreciate your engagement with the javascript and programming community. I was pleasantly surprised to see you prominently mentioned this post by @firepower ("Hey! I know that guy!"). Keep up the good work.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words :)

Hey Firepower, this is a big topic around Steemit. I see posts by a lot of people trying to figure out the lack of interaction problem.

Part of the issue is curation for the sake of curation rewards, where at the moment you have 53 vote and only 27 views and mostly auto-responded comments. It becomes a gamified system of tracking authors with "usually" high payouts and getting your upvote in fast before the big guys do.

I do not understand at all, why people who are interested enough to write a "human" reply continuing the post conversation and praising the content, etc then won't upvote it. But, we do get a bit of insight on that when we see those people upvoting their own comment, but not the post. Like people reading the magazines at the grocery store checkout line, and putting them back when they're done and not buying it. Again a self-interest on rewards.

They're are groups on Steemit that focus on bringing people together and building close networks of true followers and supporters like Whaleshares, PAL, Looking for Niche, etc. A lot of those efforts and bonds happen off Steemit in Discord and Mumble, then translate back to the users on Steemit.

I love this reply because after I read it, I didn't have to say what I was thinking because this is it! I enjoy a post and always look at the comments to see if there is possibly additional value. That is what dialogue and conversation is about. When I do see a "human response" I upvote. Thank you @steempowerpics.

Indeed, thank you. It's just one of those "things" about Steemit we have to accept.

i don't like to follow all people randomly, cause it causes much spam.
But yes, engagement is really important with other people!

Thanks for the tips. People only do comment not upvote..

Good news! Thanks for sharing!

Good job

Thanks for sharing this tips, steemit is good but some people or bots will ruin it, we will have better social networks if we don't give attention to this : My message to steemcleaners ! what ever you are !

You are powerful and you can make the change please read my message and comments there, a lot of people now are sufuring from the bot and puted in the black list without doing something bad.

I like the idea my guy, I'm trying something similar to that same game plan

Steemit is unfortunately not free flowing as in reddit or other social platforms. Infact the money aspect is holding many people. Current financial model may not work..one metric i would be interested is drop out rates for users

nice one @firepower i think he feed option is not working fine as all users should get a notification from feed or another option once the person they are following sends a new post....there should be a way all gets notified or a way a peson can contact all those following him/her to notify the of new pot...at once... cos for now, having huge followers does not really count...even the resteem option is almost not working...
nice post as always...worthy of my upvote...
sent a post on natural remedy ...hope you find it valuable in my blog...

Thank you for sharing the info :) tip!

The problem i have with following everyone who is following me is that i wouldn't be able to track what everyone is posting as there are simply too many of them. And for me the goal of following someone is to see when the person you find interesting posts something. And then actually read it and interact with the poster. Just following someone because he or she follows me, defeats the purpose of this platform, but i may be a minority in this in dont know.
I liked your post though and you will receive a 100% upvote and comment to boost those stats a bit :)
In all seriousness, thanks for the good tips, cheers!

You are doing a great job everytime you posted and create more values for the Steemit Community.

Hi From @super-grand-ad - I am upvote 309 - and a new follower -
I am a minnow at present, I just read your post
what I gleaned - Get more followers and they
should follow back, also engage with them - But
how many followers can one engage with in say
an hour and the next thing you find that you have
followed say 100 stemmers but how do I know
they have followed me back ? it's probably something
so simple to do, but as yet I have not found how to
check and see if the steemers I follow, follow back -
also has anyone written a dummies guide to steemit ?
One last question how come in tabs there is no hobbies tab?

and thanks a lot for upvoting me

very good. I really want you to help me small fish to get upvote from you indeed I have not deserve it. Because my content is still mediocre but I will always try and work hard so I deserve support from you because I believe hard work never betrayed the result. if you are not busy please give your opinion on my post. Best regard @firepower

I don't think there's any reason why buying bot followers on steemit will be any harder than instagram. In fact, with the no of bots that are already here, I think it will be a bigger problem than on Instagram.

But the thing about Steemit is that follower count isn't the most important metric. It's the payouts, and the SP you have that matters. And even that is hackable. But still, it's less hackable than follower bots.

Gaining following is good, I have about 379 followers but I know most of them are dead users and only a few see my post. I am not talking about the money part, I have actually a handsome job, I just want people to read my post that I write about unsuccessful persons and share their ideas with me. I guess the most important thing is to get loyal, quality followers that will help you in the longer run.

I joined steemit to learn a credible knowledge about crypto. Plus the enjoying to be part of great community. I merely got a vote so the only reward I think I get was the knowledge.

Thank you so much for sharing all this information! that's great! All the best! Waiting for more posts! :)

I don't really understand why so few people use their votes. Are they withholding their voting power to improve their self-upvotes? I sure hope not.

My experience has been that my upvotes are worth very little to me, but they are very encouraging to others. I try to upvote just about every substantial interaction that I have on Steemit just to show my appreciation.

I would prefer if every Reply would also produce an upvote by default with the option of changing it to a non-vote or down-vote before submission.

Hey @firepower

I think it's important to build a strong relationship with our followers. Also, we should focus on one topic and as a result our followers would be intersted in our blogs.

If we build community of people and followers who are interested in one topic such as cryptocurrency and blogging.

I've been writing about blogging and repurposing my blog articles so it can my blog as well.

It's my daily two cents.

Great blog, thank you for sharing @fire

very good blog

I'll follow your steps to gain more followers. Thanx for info....

Very informative Meghan, Thank you :)

interesting! you just got a new follower.

Every day I find new things about Steemit, the community is growing every day and I'm glad to see so many cultural differences, so many things to learn from people from different corners of the planet. I want to increase the number of followers and every day I discuss with other friends on Steemit chat about the possibilities of promotion postings

Upvote and following I agree you need to meet people with similar interests in content. @minnowsupport is great too. Thanks for this

Que grande 💜

I hope that I can find ways to engage more in the steemit community. I'm still on my adjustment period. :) but I don't want to adjust forever. lol

@firepower Thank's for this post, you are very wise,
Waiting For your Next Post

UPVOTED and RESTEEMED

For a starter, following many people might help as some may follow back by law of reciprocity.

This is a strategy that works well if you want to increase your numbers but the real question is this: Does this result in better engagement?

In my view to increase engagement,if development team can integrate Steemit Chat here.

Integrating chat here will increase engagement, currently when an individual is on Steemit chat, they find it hard to come back on Steemit!

People get engrossed in chat and forget to participate here on Steemit, you know how Steemit chat can be addictive!

That is is my opinion.

thanks for making this

First, Steemit needs to fix their account setup and login issues, and login / password policy. Not only is copy/pasting your password inconvenient, it’s also less secure than several other methods of authentication. Without a modern login policy, Steemit will struggle for adoption, which is prerequisite to engagement.

Further, Steemit really needs to fix their login issues, as many users like me still can’t login with several devices. For example, I can login to my account on my phone and iPad, but not my chromebook or windows laptop or desktop. Same username, same password, makes no sense to me. Most users facing this issue would simply walk away from Steemit without a second thought, but I’m trying to give it every chance I can.

Last, the account setup process is quite glitchy and tedious. While struggling to login on multiple devices with the first account I setup, I tried setting up a second account with a different email address and phone number, but still can’t get in as I’m faced with errors saying this email or this phone number has already been used, which makes no sense. Again, if new users can’t easily create an account and login on multiple devices as easily as they would with any other service, adoption and engagement will be severely hindered.

I was even excited about investing in the platform by buying Steem Power, but with all of the issues I’m having, I just don’t have enough trust in he platform.

Nice

Just like you have noticed, some not too good post get high upvotes comments and the likes while some good post juts die out.
One major thing I have noticed in here is interaction. Some people have interacted so well that they have a lot of people following them who would upvote their post even for no reason.
Other than the fact that it's from a person they are familiar with.
I am barely 3days old here and I am still trying to observe things.

that's fantastic guide
i am a minnow and trying to be like you
thanks for information

Interesting to read about you increasing the number of people that you follow. I have tried only to follow people who are posting material that I know I want to comment on - maybe I need to follow more!

Cheers

Great Info. keep on posting great Content

Upvoted and Followed.

This post was very informative thank you for sharing

Keep smiling, reading, writing and voting!!!
You have my upvote.

giphy.gif

Thanks for the guide, I am following you since 2 or 3 weeks and found lots of great Info. which is helping me alot.
Thanks for Sharing this post . Waiting for more interesting posts.

@firepower While it is enticing to have a lot of followers, it is already a challenge, with some fine relationships, to not spread myself too thinly. I like to be able to reply to all non-spammy comments and then bounce back and forth between forums. It is almost like Steemit has become a full-time occupation. Snick! Snick!

So any advice how you are able to have such a following and maintain your sanity, I am intensely open and desirous of hearing (well reading).

Thank you for sharing that. I was wondering about increasing the following load. What you write makes total sense.

As for the commenting without upvoting, I can say that is the position I am in right now. Voting power is so precious, especially when one has to use 100% of the vote power that time is required to replenish. There is a lot of good content on here along with worthwhile people deserving of votes. I am following roughly 700 or so right now, many who post sensational stuff. This is the dilemma, to upvote regularly and knock down the power or to be more prudent with them but really be giving someone something when voting them.

Once again, thanks for this post...I really like the posts on there that talk about how we can do things better or improve ourselves.

I am a tiny minnow here, so I don't have much voting power. Therefore, I just upvote what I actually like! Maybe it would be better if we all did that. Wasn't that the original plan of this platform?

Don't forget to follow, like (if you actually like what I have said), reply, resteem, and promote. Thanks!

Great Job Bro. .Thanks for the information. Big help for us. . Im hoping you will also Upvote my blog . Thanks again. more powers

Realy realy good post for us.i resteem this post .hope it will be a hot post.best of luck @firepower

Great initiative and work. Thanks

As someone who is on Day 1 with Steemit, this was an interesting post to come across. I look forward to seeing more of your writing!

How to find this "the most followed" metric that you mentioned yourself as the 13th most followed? Still new, learning this space is much better than Facebook.

This is great post and very motivational as well...And you are right about bringing dead followers back to using Steemit once again? upvoted

I feel people get a lot of followers but the best way to keep your follower base active is to ineteract with them once a while by writing a good conversational comment and not two - three words.

A great post for the minnows and newbies, Steemit is a platform to create relationship between the readers and writers.

Thanks for sharing this information. For Newbies like me it's a source of gold to get to know this platform better with ever day

Thank you that was very helpful mate

pulling it in steemit we do not have to wait for ads to be displayed on our page then we can earn

I'm afraid most of my followers are what you refer to as ghost followers. And honestly - to most of them - I am also a ghost follower. I try to skim through the 'new' posts on a daily basis, but the quality is - generally speaking - rather low, and it is hard to maintain focus and motivation doing this. True interaction between people tends to happen when they are united in some sort of effort. It could therefore be fruitful for sub-communities to form on Steemit (some are clearly already there), maybe a bit like sub reddits, where people's interests or goals bring them together. Thanks for taking the topic up for debate!

I keep hearing a lot about using steemit chat. But I don't find much there except post promotions. Which channels are good for discussions? Between one tip that I would like to give for better interaction is that commentors who make sensible comments should always be rewarded with some upvotes. This encourages them to return back to ur accounts often. As I do with @kus-knee.

congratulations @firepower

A majority of dead followers will never come back, they've tried out the community and have found it's not even close to what they expected.

First impressions are everything, right? And many people come into Steemit expecting a very different first impression than the one they get. Those people won't come back, consider their accounts totally gone.

I think you are absolutely right. But we need to forget about the dead ones and just concentrate on the living.

Cant say thank you enough for such and informative post! I'm a newbie here ...and can't seem to get enough of Steemit. I love the platform! <3
I've always wanted to start a blog, and steemit it seems to be the perfect fit for me. I can't wait to share all I've been working on! Feel free to check out my blog :) @splendorhub

I dont think so any particular formula or style works on steemit.. its all but random.

Thanks ....very informative. I was actually confused on how it works but now i'm getting it

This post was sincerely needed. I moved here from my WordPress site cause I felt I couldn't get the interaction with my audience without going to the depths of Reddit. But even on here the most I got was a shallow response, with someone pasting a line about me doing well and asking to check out their content.

It's great to have some insight on gaining, and keeping up engagement, from someone who's done the work first hand.

хороша інформація, для мене як новачка

Interesting post, I'm certainly all for Steemit remaining a platform that rewards hard work and effort producing quality content.

I am wondering if one reason for lack of engagement is that people feel overwhelmed and that their votes aren't worth much.

Thanks for this! There isn't much information about how to build a following.

Congratulations @firepower!
