I Got My First Steemit Troll!! Woo Hoo. Someone Send a Bot to Give Me an Award!

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

I received my very first, troll-like comment on Steemit. I kind of expected the Steemit bot to give me an award. This was a first.

You just knew it had to happen sooner or later. I was silly to think this was the new utopia of politeness. After all, Steemit, like any other platform, is made up of humans just like me. And, like me, they are emotional, compulsive beings.

Today, I was called a snowflake by a complete stranger who didn't care for my blog about procrastination. Go figure. This person also tossed in a few insults about my daughter, too. A real winner, through and through.

I engaged for a minute and then realized I was in over my head with a person full of bitterness. I thought for a second I was back on Twitter again.

Kind of odd. This account that attacked me was brand new, worth about 50 cents. Makes you wonder, eh?

Either way, Steemit offered me the chance to hide this person from my feed so I did. I just thought it interesting because I had just bragged about how polite the comment section is on Steemit.

Meh. It is what it is. No platform is perfect but I am still "all in" on Steemit. Can't let one bad experience run you off, right? As far as my troll, I'll take my tests as they come. Without a test, you've got no testimony.

Snowflake, out.

What did I just read?
I'd flag it, but they'd just take pride in being a persecuted martyr.
My condolences on the passing of your husband.

Thank you for your condolences. I truly appreciate it. I also apologize if this post is not allowed in the community. My sarcasm sometimes gets the best of me. I pray on it often. My apologies. I need to learn more about the community. This is a good reminder. Thank you for not flagging the post. Blessings.

Calling out trolls is a great idea.
They have the rest of the internet to ruin.
This corner is ours

Amen! I really like that Steemit has witnesses. I researched last night about the many witnesses. It is important that we keep a human eye. I truly hope this platform remains successful. I am impressed. Thanks again for the encouragement. I just earned a little sbd for a comment I made on your blog last week and I realized, yours was one of the first blogs I found on Steemit. Glad to connect! Blessings.

Don't feed trolls. Always ignore

Always good advice, even in the real world! Thanks for stopping by. Blessings

You're welcome

Yikes. I read that. I also visited his blog. I have muted him too. So much anger and self righteousness.

I don't know if you are like me, but I don't like to offend the offender. I try to be reasonable and nice. You probably figured out it's best to turn the other cheek and ignore them because they really do like the debate. It must energize them

Being called a snowflake in any other context would have been a compliment.

I enjoy your posts. I'm following. :)

Thanks so much. I appreciate the encouragement. You are right about turning the other cheek. Good advice in life. Blessings.

Goodness me :)
The platform is still in its infancy, so the trolling game is still low. It's only a matter of time before all the trolls arrive. One thing though, you need to provide a telephone number to get an account, so that's going to really limit the extreme trolls. It's never going to get like Twitter. Hopefully :)

Hopefully is right! That is good to know about the Steemit verification. It took me a week to get approved. At first, I thought the wait was crazy but then it intrigued me to want to check out Steemit more. I appreciate that they are taking precautions. Thanks for connecting. Blessings.
