Will New Changes Help Steemit?

And now the discussion is moving to where the changes that the big guys want are made so that quality content can be more visible more voted on and be better rewarded. Frankly this is risible, Steemit has never been a place where good content is rewarded, and probably will never be.

For example just a couple of days back we had the Netcoins contest to win a free listing on that site, hundreds of Steemians wrote articles urging people to vote for Steemit, these articles were nearly all made from the same model, same content same words, and yet if you take the time you will see that people with higher reputation, and I mean close to 70, got twenty or thirty times more rewards than the low REP guys who mostly got a close to $1.00 reward rom @oracle-d, which I also can bet you is about the best rewards most of us have gotten this year. Big guys vote for big guys, and that isn't going to change.

When I started out here the trending page was completely dominated by a few whales who got votes from other whales and just took a big slice out of the rewards pool every day regardless of the quality of the content, of course trending was taken over by those who buy votes, but the quality is still the same, it mostly sucks.

So in the end what we have on Steemit isn't quality content, what we have is quality votes, you have guys who can make or break you (because flagging is also an option), what would you rather have 1,000 $0.001 votes from really small guys or one big quality vote from @blocktrades worth over $100.00? But these type of big votes (I just used @blocktrades as an example there are of course other whales with big votes) are just for big REP people, hardly any small guy gets one of these regardless of the quality of their posts.

So what I am trying to say is no change being put out there for Steemit is going to fix anything perhaps the bigger accounts will be able to corner more of the reward pool but as a whole, for Steemit the changes will not have any positive impact.

I think that you do have a point on the fact that quality content is not what is rewarded on Steemit exclusively. This is NOT about who writes the best content.
In my opinion, I think a big part of Steemit rewards has to do with following/popularity and originality. The ones that have the largest following and have been here the longest just seem to know how it works and yes, whales do support each other consistently.

At least I will upvote you.
