Have you wondered how many views a post gets?
I have, many times. Some of my earlier posts didn't receive an upvote until a week after they were posted, so naturally I assumed
No one even looked at it...
This is a very dis-heartening experience for many first time users. I think many, like myself at the time, associate up-votes with post views. It made me wonder,
"what is the point in continuing if I post 5 times with no views?"
This is an unfortunate misconception with the current STEEMIT platform. A post views icon is in desperate need because one must consider there upvotes as the only form of judging there personal worth here. A new artist posting their heart out to a seemingly empty audience looks for a new audience... Simple as that.
Luckily for me, and probably many others, I kept on keeping on, and caught a couple whales one day.
But this is where I was, in the opposite spectrum, sent wondering about how many people had actually viewed it vs up voted it. I see many posts with 300+ upvotes, and I always wonder how many views it received. Did 5k view it and only 300 give it an upvote? or did only 300 people view it, and they all upvoted?
Knowing how many views a post receives can also help writers cater more to an audience. By understanding views vs. upvote, you could also decide what people are interested in and what to write about more often, instead of wasting time with "Boring" content nobody even cares to click on.
Plus I know some of the big dogs out there would love to compete over there big posts and how it got some 100k+ views.
There are so many positives to having a Post Views icon that I am just shocked it wasn't already implemented. Pretty sure Myspace had it 15years ago, so please, @dan and @ned let’s get this show on the road and make STEEMIT a 21st century platform.
Thank you for VIEWING and comments are always welcomed.
This is a great idea, post it on github steemit! don't have the exact link for you sorry

I would love some version of analytics. This is a great idea. I have it for my Wordpress, Blogger, Facebook and Twitter so I know the team can do it. Since I share my posts off platform it would also be nice to see where visitors are coming from.

I have only shared a couple of my posts off platform, but yes, I didn't even think of having the ability to see how many facebook or twitter friends stopped by.. Interesting concept.

I agree wholeheartedly. I just got started and was quite discouraged by this. I hope this feature can be added soon. Also, the ability to search for posts without having to leave steemit. A lot of times I end up having to google what I'm looking for with 'steemit' added. It's quite annoying.

This is a great idea. I thought about it yesterday. Hope devs will read it

Yeah, unless you have a few baby seals in your friend pile, it's hard to get the devs to notice minnows... But it would be nice if say @dan would make a post highlighting features they are working on implementing.

This would be a great option/tool for all of us minnows out there who can benefit from this kind of metrics, to improve or remove factors in our posts. Great suggestion and please do post it on github.
