I Wrote About Steemit On A Major Finance & Investing Website

I have been freelance writing for a major financial news and investing website for a few months now. Maybe I write one article a month on average, just when I find something worthy to talk about.

Well, if you have read my recent post where I make a case that Bitcoin will go to $1,000 then you might see that I had something to share. I expanded that article and cleared up my thesis on Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market if/when it deflates in price.

I was able to convince my editor that a discussion about STEEM and Steemit was relevant to the article, so I got to promote the expanding STEEM ecosystem! I mentioned D.Tube, Zappl, Steepshot as well as the main site.

This is a major site frequented by people with a lot of money and a willing to invest in things that show promise. You and I both know that Steemit shows a metric TON of promise compared to most of the other cryptos out there.

If you want to check out my article on Seeking Alpha, click here. The more views and comments, the more chance that it will get in front of more eyes (plus, the hate in the comments section is worthwhile!). I have become more and more bullish on STEEM as I see everything falling into place.

Steemit.com's Alexa Rank

Steemit.com Alexa Rank 25 January 2018.png

I have been checking the Steemit.com Alexa Rankings for the past week or two, and WOW, is it flying up!

When I first checked it, Steemit was ranked 1330. About 8 or 10 days later and it is up to 1,199 as of today! Steemit.com is not even TWO years old and it is in the top 1200 websites WORLDWIDE!

This just goes to show you that if you can incentivize content - they will come. Every single day huge numbers of articles are being written and indexed by the search engines. People are searching and clicking on Steemit articles. They then get curious about the dollar sum at the bottom and check the place out.

I know I have been randomly searching for stuff and noticing more articles on page 1 that are Steemit articles. People, it is important to write good articles as you never know if it will be the first interaction with someone new to Steemit.

This will only happen more and more.

Plus, Steemit has been getting some serious publicity as of late. Here is the article over on ZeroHedge that mentions Steemit as censorship proof.

This is the summary paragraph:

People’s first reaction to Steem is that it’s a scam. It is nothing of the sort. The scam is Twitter. The scam is Facebook. Your life, ideas and work have value. But, they’ve taught you to think that it doesn’t.

BADASS!

Other things of note is that the Weiss Cryptocurrency rankings had Steemit tied in 3rd place! Finally, move over crapcoins you don't do shit.

This news propelled STEEM into 25th place. Previously it had been in 32nd for many weeks.

Here’s What Justifies Steem (STEEM)’s ‘Better Than Bitcoin’ Rating

We can only see Steemit continuing to expand its user base and – as it does – expand both the base of STEEM holders and the transaction utility of the coin.

STEEM (STEEM): Monetizing Media

The current price of STEEM coin is 6.19$, going slowly towards having 7$ per one coin and potentially promising that this coin might grow for a couple of hundred percents during the current year.

How Blockchain-Based Cryptocurrency Can Make Online Publishing More Profitable

Steemit is trying to reverse these trends using blockchain and cryptocurrency technology, first with its own social media site and next with Smart Media Tokens. On Steemit.com, content creators post on a Reddit-like site, and they earn cryptocurrency whenever the community responds well to a post.

Internet users are taking back control as Steemit and Datawallet monetize data

But if companies like Steemit and Datawallet have their way, the advent of blockchain and its advancement in mainstream attention may signal a remarkable shift to a new paradigm, a world where cryptocurrency levels the playing field and delivers user-friendly and controlled data-sharing solutions that are equitable and just.

Top Non-Bitcoin Altcoins for Your Portfolio in 2018

Steem's unusual model and user-focused content system makes it a worthwhile altcoin to keep an eye on.

It seems the world is taking notice folks! I believe that STEEM is the best long-term crypto out there.

When reading your article I couldn't help but think of the old Field of Dreams saying.. "build it and they will come" or whatever it was... Mandela effect has me all confused on that one, lol!

Really enjoyed the article, definitely inspiring and encouraging.
So glad I listened to you when you told me about steemit.. So many people I told didn't take it seriously enough.. That's for sure. -.-

Hey man, since we are speaking of old sayings here is one for those that didn't take it seriously.

"You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink."

You gave them the chance. I know I have told so many people that didn't sign up either.

Yeah.. That's a good one.. Another way to word it that I've heard used before is.. "You can lead someone to knowledge, but you can't make them think."
And I wouldn't wanna make them think, I would just hope they would naturally.
And oh? Yeah.. I assume a lot of people on steemit must deal with similar as I've heard numerous other people echo those same sorta sentiments! Well.. For the time being, it looks very positive! :) We shall see how it goes. Cheers friend.

There's a sublime message in here to tell to buy steem. :-)

Always buy the STEEM!

Why not...let the Truth set you free :)

Thanks @getonthetrain. Really good article you wrote ( for that financial outlet) Iam still learning about Cryptocurrency..pretty brand new with it.

And a nice shout out to Steem in your article. For some reason it wouldn't let me leave a Comment. I tried and tried.

Anyway, sent it out to my FB and TWTR. Thanks again.

STEEM is very interesting as it has created its own social network ecosystem, complete with different apps all using the same blockchain. STEEM blockchain clones of YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and the original blogging page, Steemit.com, all reward the content creator with STEEM coins based off a community consensus of value by 'liking' or upvoting the content they enjoy.

Ahh, you prolly need to sign up (free) to leave a comment. Thanks for the shares, Robert!

Yeah, I went to Sign up. And found out I was already registered from the past. And even got my PW right lol. So let a message there. thnx

Badass indeed!

You are very right about the need to produce quality, as it could well be the first interaction of a potential new user.

Going to check out your SA article now.

Steem train on!

Edit:Just read your article, very will done and I'm with you on the fall of BTC and the rise of 'useful' Alts!

Thanks, Ash!

I'm trying to get people to see that there is more to crypto then just trading them back and forth trying to sell for more. There are so many possibilities but people are only looking at the lowest level!

It is like giving a monkey a Leatherman multitool. So many uses for it, but the monkey will just smash it against some rocks. That's the level the majority of people are at for decentralized blockchains.

leatherman-rebar-multitool-11543-p.jpg

Look how many holes I could put into a rock with that badboy! 😁

Do you think there is a useful alt for each tool on the Learherman? I'm counting 10 (but am a bit of a chimp when it comes to hands on craft)

I signed up for steemit because i was searching information about some of the cryptos i was getting into and everywhere i looked Steemit was there.
Cryptos are just starting, and steem is one of those that have a solid future ahead, so blog, get more sp, invite more people, this platform will be the foundation for something great.

The internet presence of Steemit can only become larger as so much content is produced each day!

I checked our article in seekingalpha, but couldn't find a way to comment. You are right.. steem is now stable at $6 and it's harder to accumulate the steem. Facebook and instagram are really horrible lately, if you are content creators or business owners , they won't even show on people feed anymore unless you pay money as ad.

Oh, you need to have an account to comment, which is free. No worries about it though. I have seen more people heading over to D.Tube - awesome! 😊

awesome.. Dtube is so supportive though, which is also good.

Great article and I was certainly surprised when Bitcoin made its run last year because of its increasing lack of utility. It was very odd but then it is like a lot of people were just getting onto Coinbase and buying it and never moving it so they didn't know it doesn't work and the fees are out of control.

Also cool Star Ship Troopers Gif. I loved that movie!

In time everything gets back to its actual value. The issue you mention about them just buying once and not doing anything with it is why I think it will stick around. The issues with bitcoin are greatly lowered if people store it instead of use or frequently trade it.

If we all continue working like this, steem will definitely rise day by day.. The article you wrote on that website is a really good one... and I am sure more people will be joining us from that article... You are doing a great job my friend...

Hey, thanks. I appreciate you checking it out and telling me so.

I am quite surprised and happy to see it rise, I didn't expect witnesses to not impose the tools to keep SBD at around $1 so its kind of funny to see Steem Backed Dollar worth way more than a dollar. If they do decide to impose the dollar cap I have a feeling Steem will follow. Its really up to witnesses to coordinate controls in the future.

P.S. Nice to see more Arizonans here

So you're thinking if the SBD gets pegged to $1, steem will drop too?

If the top 20 witnesses implement the price feed bias to keep the price of SBD at $1 like before I am certain the price of Steem will drop. At some point it might be in their interest depending on how things play out.

I'm not well read on the SBD issue. I thought the general crypto speculation was the reason for the rise in SBD price. No?

Nice to meet a fellow Tucsonian too.

Steem Backed Dollar can deal with speculation and price movement up or down using a number of tools including increasing interest rates for holding it and of course price feed bias. The idea originally was to keep SBD pegged at a Dollar.

Great roundup of recent media and article of your own! I do feel I’ve been seeing Steem more and more “in the wild.” That quote from the ZeroHedge article is brilliant. Going to have to share that one!

Hell yeah! The quote is very Fight Club esque.

Great article - I do think a commodity-backed alt would be interesting. The problem is gold is that it is hard to transfer quickly and in small amounts, but if you could digitize it and secure the physical somewhere, it could be a powerful alt currency. I will try to revive my old SA handle/PW to comment over there. Congrats on the post.

That's being done already. Goldmoney (XAUMF). They have a presence here, account is @goldmatters

I have so much to learn about the alt currency world. Thanks you!

Is SMT have any hope in future.? i mean will Smart Media Token help steemit investors or not.?

Yes - it will bring other sites to the Steemit ecosystem

Nice informative article about steemit. It will be great help for the steemians. Thanks for sharing the post.

They rise in Steem & Steem Dollar has been quite astronomical recently, I believe a lot of this has been hugely affected by Youtube shills like Trevon James, Crypto Nick just to name a couple, which are both helpful and a hindrance . If we as a whole only upvote the content of good substance such as yours @getonthetrain, and @ausbitbank @berniesanders etc the rise of Steem will exceed the ATH in May of last year.

Have they been pumping Steem then? I've never watched any of their vids and only heard of them from the Bitconnect collapse.

I'd watched a few of their vids as I started getting into Crypto, and Steem is being plugged every other day by Trevon James, and he'll upload anything for a dollar.
But there others like @altcoinBuzz @dougpolk who speak very highly of the platform, and push good content both here and on their other social media platforms, without trying to push their ideas onto their subscribers

Trevon gave up on steem a while back and only recently got back in after the price of steem went up.. Dunno who Nick is, but.. I think Trevon just realized he messed up earlier and that steem is more solid than he thought it was.
I don't really know much about him myself so I won't comment on his character, though.. I personally kind of see it as a positive thing that he wasn't aware enough before to see the value of steem and now that it's been growing so much he's jumping back on board. TO me, that seems like a good thing. Hopefully it is, heh.

Awesome news for steem as a whole! Thanks for the read!

Wow, this is an incredibly cool piece! I was unaware of some of those press mentions, as well as the Weiss rating. Very good stuff you've got here.

That Alexa ranking is a great image.

Keep watching - it will continue to go up! Look it is at 1,186 today!

Very cool! Thanks for sharing. Steam power paved the way for the Industrial Revolution, and now we'll see what Steem power can do.

well, if bitcoin looses its value, then eventually many Africans will leave steemit. This is because with steemit, there is no direct transaction and we have to first use bitcoin to send the money in our personal accounts.

I hope African developers will think more about it and make steemit transactions easy in Africa.

Thanks.

Bitcoins value wouldn't matter as the transfer would get you the equivalent exchange amount from the transfer.

If steem and bitcoin were both $10, and you had to transfer steem to btc to get fiat money, you still could get your money.

yeah...you are right.

Thank you again

thanks for sharing the experience you had when first starting out. i will keep that in mind for any future comments i might be making. thanks for preventing new steemians from making those mistakes :) by @getonthetrain way i like what your doing here on steem, you keep it real, i can appreciate that for sure :)
thanks for sharing your experience :) ..

very good article @getonthetrain

Brilliant article brother <3 Spreading the joy of steemit. May I ask, how did you get hired to work as a blogger, id love to find a blogging job myself.
