Supporting minnows & Crypto Indexes

in steemit •  6 years ago

Do you remember when you first started on Steemit? You made a few posts to test out the 'waters' and to find out exactly what this blogging site/stuff was all about.

Your rep was 25 and you most likely earned a few SBD's/Steem on your introduction post. (If you made one) Then you thought to yourself....hmm, maybe this is a good way to earn some of that cryptocurrency that my friends are talking about... And I can actually transfer it back to $ if I wanted too......sounds good.

If you were like most (I assume), you continued posting and some of your posts received 0...? You did not have very many followers and most of them were a minnow just like yourself so your vote was worth .01....

So if you have been on this site for a while, why not send a small upvote to those that are new to the platform. Just hit that 'New' link on the top of the page and find a post title that you like.

Yesterday I went through the 'New' page and was specifically looking for 'reps' under 35 or so and sent them a small upvote. I actually feel like a minnow myself at times, but I'm a semi-veteran in terms of time as I have been on here since July 17. (About 9 months, it's actually a long time in crypto...)

When you produce a post, it only takes a few seconds to do a quick scan of the 'New' page and make a few minnows happy. =)

On another note, here is a Crypto Index that I came across which is from the Six Swiss Exchange. it is named Crypto Market Index 10 and will probably be a good way to track all of the top crypto's by marketcap. I'm sure BTC will have a very similar chart pattern...

The symbol is CMI10. This is the daily chart with heikin ashi candlesticks and bollinger band applied. It started in January 18, so there is not much of a history yet.

There is the 'Bit 20' Index that has been around for a while.

I think it's just a matter of time before a ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) is approved by the SEC (United States). Then there will be double ETF's and Inverse ETF's. Wall Street is always looking for ways to make $$$...

I make my way into the introduceyourself posts and upvote new people sometimes. I guess I didn't think about how new people may appreciate even more if they're second, third and fourth posts were upvoted. I'm scaling back a little bit to try to get my VP up to 100%, but I'll keep an eye out for some good minnow posts when I have that recharged (almost there).

I've always thought of myself as a minnow, but after purchasing steem little by little and accumulating a bit from the posts, I'm a level above. I focused on trying to build my account over the last several months and want to give a little back to the newbs on the platform. Receiving an up vote when your a minnow is a good feeling as your post was actually seen...

Yeah, I purchased a quite modest amount of steem but I bought some at a lower price than it's at now. I try mostly to support cycling posts, but I should spread it out a bit more.

Thank you for this post, I'm pretty new here too, haven't had a ton of time to spend here until more recently & I'm looking forward to digging in more & connecting with people.

It's good that you found this site as the Steem crypto may be worth more year over year, so your account is like a small crypto savings account. Keep posting something interesting!

We are quite new to the platform only joined in March (so real Noobs!), and actually our main way of browsing steemit is to look at our feed which contains people we follow (our curation I guess) and the "New" tab! We do it a lot on Steepshot (which is the main platform we use at this stage) and found it actually more valuable as "Trending" and "Hot".
Often it is less inflated by bot voting, it means there is not yet influence on the post and make then purer for us to curate and consume.
There is obviously a lot of poor content but it's the same in "trending" really :-)

I would suggest not looking at the trending or hot pages. I would focus on one good post per day, tell a story that is interesting with 6+ good photos. (Not a crappy off center, blurry, unbalanced shot)

Many people do not have time to read a chapter, so a lot of photos usually do well with some commentary. That is how I'm posting, but I'm no whale...

Yeah we definitely don't focus on trending or hot pages as we haven't found it brings up good quality content.

We've been supporting Steepshot so we mainly post of steepshot so that is one photo and we accompany our post with a well crafted short story.
Steepshot as just launched multi-photo post so we may give it a go when it's relevant :-)

As you said not many people have a lot of time and so I'm no big fan of long long post either unless I guess it's more of a guide.

good information provided. its nice graph

Well, it is nice that people want to help new users, this in turn will help in the growth of steemit

@glennolua That's the way to go, thanks.

Thank you...

Thanks for understanding our situation. I must follow as you said.

Great mix of everything. Thanks for sharing.
