What is steemit all about

I am writing this post to help those who joined this community recently,and have so many questions in mind to ask, such as what is steem it, do you need a start up capital to start, how do i get paid and so on...
WHAT IS STEEMIT ？
steemit is a place where you are been paid for your write ups, you also get paid in going into contests, it is also a place for you to invest in steem and also trade other cryptos.
