First Week on Steemit: Highlights and How I Made $400 on one Post!

in steemit •  7 years ago

If you are reading this, I wanted to say Thank You! It has been an eventful week for me on Steemit. One in which I have probably had a lot less sleep and spent a lot more time at my computer, being so excited by this platform.

🌟The highlights so far for me in this wonderful world of Steemit have been: 🌟

👬 1. The Community👯

I have connected with some really nice people during my short time here, who have supported me and helped me. Thankyou to people like @Vinnu, @Kryptoknightk @dontstopmenow @princessmewmew and @gingerninja who have helped me, kept up with my posts and given me words of encouragement, like these, that make me feel all warm and fluffy inside:

Shout out also to @decentralized who has also encouraged me, said nice things to my husband, and sent a few randowhale votes my way when I first started, which I was so excited by.

📝 2. Getting in Touch With My Creative Side 💡

Steemit is an eclectic place where you can write about pretty much anything. I entered a poetry contest this week, which was great. I sat down thinking, this will be weird but lets give it a go, and I had so much fun. Here is an excerpt of my poem, if you want to read the whole thing you can go here:

💌 3. Making My Husband Proud 💋

My husband @rlamasb is really into crypto and all of that cool geeky stuff, which I have never really been into. I recently bought some crypto just over a month ago because he wouldn't stop talking about how great it was, and now I have seen the benefits. I like blogging, he likes crypto, Steemit is basically the lovechild of those two things, so really this has been a perfect thing for us to bond over. I have also learnt a lot about crypto, and want to continue to gain more knowledge through reading your guys posts and watching videos on here.

💥 4. Seeing My Posts Do Well 💥

I put this highlight last because it's not all about the money, despite the fact that I used a clickbait title talking about how one of my posts made $400. Well, almost... $393 haha

This post only did so well because I took some inspo from @Decentralizd's post about Streemian and also because I won a 100% whale vote on a newbie contest (not the poetry one lol), so I don't expect another $393 post anytime soon!

Obviously not every post will make money, and that's not what blogging is about. Sometimes I just want to share a blurry picture of my dog, or talk about how excited I am about something. I am not thinking about how can I make some money, because I have a regular job for that. But Steemit has become this cool little computer game that I love to play during the day at work and in my free time, and of course it is super exciting to see your posts doing well.

Any tips I have I try and share with you guys in my Steemit How To posts, and I will continue to do that as we all grown and learn together

Honestly one of the most rewarding things for me is the comments I get back on a post, rather than the $ value. I love hearing that you guys have read what I've written, or a guide that I put up has helped you in some way.

What have been your highlights of Steemit so far? I challenge my fellow newbie friends to make their own highlights of their first week on Steemit! 💙 Thanks again for reading, following, upvoting and resteeming when you do, it makes me so happy!

wow your strategy really works! i think i will try your strategy of being real :) sometimes its cool to be real lol

haha thank you :)
yes i think it is cool to be real

I love your attitude and approach to the platform! It's not about the money, but about sharing what you enjoy and being rewarded for genuinely doing so. As a newbie who's only been around for less than a day, I found this post helpful, and it sounds like there are some fun contests out there that will be fun and I'll maybe get to try new things. You're right, it's like a game. Steemit is pretty cool :) Good luck as you continue to rank up and make splashes in the community!

Thanks so much :) Welcome to Steemit, I hope you have a lot of fun here and there definitely are lots of cool contests and different things happening on here :) Best of luck to you too!!

Aww thanks for the mention @hannahlicious !! :D

Another great post, so well written with lots of hot tips, thanks!!

Im super glad you are already making a killing here, 180 followers and a reputation of 50 !!! Well done and well deserved!

As I always say, good things happen to good people, so you seem to be sorted.

For me...the highlight of Steemit was reaching 140 followers in one week, pretty stoked :D

Again, thanks for sharing and keep rocking .

Much love,
Bruno

Thanks so much Bruno :)

Woohoo, you should be stoked 140 followers is awesome!

Happy to see you doing well and looking forward to seeing more of you on here :)

That's awesome that you and your husband share an interest in crypto. I tell my wife about it all the time, but she has little interest. She will like it a lot more in a few years, perhaps, after my investments mature. I'm glad you're enjoying Steemit! I've been here coming up on a year and love seeing all the new growth and enthusiasm.

haha yeah, i didnt start paying attention either until my husband started making money :) then I wanted to make some too so I bought some crypto to see if I would and realised how fun and interesting it is. Wow 1 year on, that amazing, you must be amongst some of the first users then :)

I wish I were one of the first users. They made tens of thousands of dollars per post because there were so few authors to split the rewards with.

Wow @hannahlicious!!great post as always ;) thank you for the great tips and quality content :) I appreciate the shoutout 😍

thank you :)

Challange accepted @hannahlicious !

thanks for the reminder! sometime i forgot, that is being real the best way to do things... especially when there is money in play (is there the saying in english? haha dont know)
love from bavaria <3

Hahaha I'm not sure if we have a saying in english along those lines :) We do now - you just made it haha :) Thanks a lot for reading! x

haha... Money often change your mind. that's for sure :D

If only I was all into the glorification of things then I'd be able to show it off like you guys. But I'm just a strand of sewing thread in haystack or needle or what ever. lol Great to be here tho ;)

haha thank you... i think :)

The only problem with steemit and it's a major one is...there isn't one :)
