tl;dr? The bold sub-title can summarize the whole thing.

Money Was Never The Main Motivator

Earning something through my content is a very attractive idea and I am advocating others to join in. Currently, I'm not enjoying this faraway island call Steem in the Social Network Universe. Maybe its still early and lack of interaction, like any social media in the early stages.

I remember the first time I use Twitter a decade ago, there was barely anyone there especially my fellow countrymen. I tweeted as if writing a private journal vomiting things in my mind.

I was rarely active until a couple of years later which had a sudden surge of local users. After a few interaction I got more and more response in Retweets and Replies. Then the whole thing turned from a mind vomit to a game of mind vomiting.

Money certainly never a motivation, people reactions does fascinates me more and I appreciate it no matter whatever stands they have. One single tweet have thousands of replies, hundreds of discussions and myriad points of view. That kind of stuff feeds my curiosity because its something you can't search in Wikipedia or Google.

I wish there was more Malaysian of varied background in Reddit or Quora, since the demographic are geeks or educated urbanites I enjoy Twitter more. Quora is cool too because there is a more international feel to it so certainly there is a very strange out of this world responses there too. Steemit demographic are more to the strange and the people you won't get close to in real life like Multilevel Marketing Narcissistic.

Anonymity Is Attractive, But Content-wise Meh..

Meh - Indifference; to be used when one simply does not care.
A: What do you want for dinner?
B: Meh.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Meh

Unlike Facebook there was no restriction for the user to become anything they want. Since my mind vomit was so unlike my other real lives(family, work, friends, collegues, business contacts, relatives, extended relative, family connections) I can attract interesting personas which mostly does not fit the standard binary definition of identities, religious affiliation, political stands, socio-economic views, ethics and philosophy.

Steemit have anonymity even-though one need to verify their account with their phone numbers, the content is still not there yet. Maybe the algorithm or something, which doesn't interest me to respond with something that can be a magnet for light yet heated discussion. Or maybe I haven't understand much on how to navigate myself in Steem because I'm still too early in the game. Or I followed the wrong people and haven't discovered the hidden gems of interesting users.

Twitter Is A Fail Investment But A Successful Platform

From the investor POV, Twitter does not make any profit even if their revenue increases. I use Twitter as an example to show that user don't know or even care thing they are using loosing value in the future.

In my experience Twitter in the other hand was used by me anonymously at first as a business platform to promote my brand which was Headsink. Twitter is a failure as an investment asset, but a valuable marketing platform across the board. Just check out the business statistic for Twitter from this site: http://expandedramblings.com/index.php/twitter-stats-for-businesses/

As you can see (assuming the site still online) percentage of people following small and midsize business (SMB) are 74%. Even the percentage of forbes 500 companies using the platform is the same, so that is a huge marketing platform. Not to forget Political landscape was literally shaped by opinions in Twitter which overflow to the real world.

yeah i totally agree with your opinion but the thing is not everyone knows about steemit. It'll take some time in the coming years and quality content creators will soon that is what i believe in. Thanks for your story anyway and keep up the good work.

Just give it time. Keep the account, who knows in the future the value will rise like crazy.

We all thrive for interesting feeds, but instead we have to look around for people who are creating it. Since its a pool of people, somewhere interesting stuff goes missing.
