Slavery might be coming back to the USA very soon.
With robots taking more and more jobs, and all the profits from those jobs going to whoever owns the robots, we've got a few extremely wealthy people who own and produce absolutely everything.
If things don't change, it could be possible that simply in order to have enough money and goods to survive on Earth, we'd have to pledge our lives to these obscenely rich people, singularly because they are benevolent enough to give us a place to sleep and food to eat. Without normal, mundane jobs to do, we'll end up having to play tortuous games with them. Because they own our lives, they can do whatever they want with us. Even darkly perverted things. They'd own you, and your children, and they'd have such a surplus of humans, they could perform gruesome experiments on us freely, no need to worry about ethics. They could do sickening, depraved things to anyone, even murderously sick games, without ever holding back, and still maintain ownership of thousands upon thousands. They'd never run out of humans, and it would be a dystopia of the most bizarre and disturbing sort.
This sort of future could be coming soon. Unless we happen to find a way to enable everyone to make enough money to live in a simple, sane manner. Maybe Steemit is the answer.
Look into agorism and living off the grid. You honestly don't have to work for money if you don't want to. You can work for yourself. Then Amish, in many places not all, have been doing in for decades.

A job is not the ends, it's a means to an end. People don't want a job, what they want is wealth. When things are mass-produced, those things become much cheaper. A world in which most tasks were done by robots, everything would be so innexpensive that even the poorest would live like a king.

It'd only be inexpensive if we had money to spend. In a world where most tasks are done by robots, but those robots are owned by the corrupt, it could be possible that most people don't have any money at all, and because jobs don't exist, they'd never be able to get even a single nickel.
They would have to pledge their allegiance to a corporation or a rich person, and they would be one of the few who do. Huge masses would simply starve, as there is no work to be done, and prices never go down, because the robots are owned by the corrupt.

Slavery is here already it never left, our living wages for labor is taxed, we are tax slaves for the privately owned corporation of Washington DC, and we are debt slaves to the privately owned "federal reserve"(world central bank). Both owned and controlled by the same entity, and as you said the "ruling class" they own everything important, Hollywood, mainstream, publishing houses, school boards, big oil, big pharma, medical industry, military complex, government, Washington dc, the "federal reserve", your land, my land, their land, all the land, all the sea, the space between the earth and space, space. Next is your water rights, air rights, burning rights, all the elements, all resources perceivable, etc...even your mind, body, and spirit. They already have the majority it is true! But i agree slavery will be worse, it will become painfully manifested on all levels soon, nobody will be able to ignore it, no poor can pretend anymore. The rich "ruling class" already KNOW who the slaves are, and it is not them, it is Everybody but them.
