Algerian natives call this variety of dates "deglet nour" (Arabic: دۨڨلة نور). The Lower Sahara, Algeria (Zibans, Souf, and Oued Righ regions), and Tunisia (Jérid and Nefzaoua regions) are the primary places where it is grown. The deglet nour has a small core, transparent, golden, and translucent colour, and exceptionally soft, fleshy skin.
For its part, the specialized site «Taste Atlas» relied on the same assessment, placing deglet nour in 4th place worldwide, with a score of 4.5 out of 5.
